unable to eat

Hello all, I'm hoping someone out there might be able to help me. I can go to bed feeling ok (well as much as can be) then in the morning I wake up feeling shaky, going hot and cold, feeling REALLY tired, not like the usual then if I try to eat (even though I have no appetite) I start heaving, even taking my inhalers makes me heave. I feel as though my stomach is full and nothing is moving along, digestive wise, as it should. It's not constipation. It's very hard to get on top of and really freaks me out and I find it very hard to deal with and I usually end up crying. I have to take motilium but even then it takes days or even up to a week to get back to "normal". I somehow seem to think it's connected to my RA but I can't be sure, I also have OA and fibro. Does anyone out there know what it is or how to deal with it. My GP doesn't have a clue, I thought it could be gastroparesis but consultant said no and didn't seem to think it was important but when I see her I will ask her for more help to sort it. I can usually more or less cope with anything these horrible illnesses throw at me , but not this, I just go to pieces for some reason.
Thanks for listening.

Sue x

    Hi Nanasue

I am sorry that you are feeling so terrible at the moment. I am also amazed that your gp can not pin point an explaination for your symptoms. Would the rhummy nurse beable to help?
Sorry that I am not much help and I hope someone comes along with some Ideas for you.

    Take care

I am sorry you are feeling like this, if I were you I would go back to my GP or nurse, and really try to get it over to them how awful you feel when trying to eat.
The trouble is I find that if you get anything else the GPs sometime just put it down to it to arthur
So you go back , at least he could have sent you to see a gastro specialist.
Please let us know how you get on.

I don’t really think this will be of much help to you, Nansue but just on the offchance…..

For a long time, in the early days of NSAIDs, before side-effects were well-known, I used to go to bed OK then wake up in the morning throwing up until about 2 pm then be Ok again for another 6-8 weeks.

Apart from Lansoprazole, I now take no meds at all without food whatever the packet says.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Nanasue,

it sounds horrible. You can't take a regular and lower maintenance of Motilum all the time, as prevention rather than to clear up the symptoms when they occur?

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Oh Sue, this sounds really horrible.

when you say "the consultant" is this a gastroenterology consultant or a rheumy? If you haven't seen a gastro specialist, it does sound as if you need to. And it certainly IS important Sue, cos you can't go on like this without any kind of an answer or further investigations.

    Thinking of you.

    Hi Sue

That does not sound good at all and I am sorry. Is it only in the morning that you have this problem?

I am surprised that your gp does not refer you to a gastroenterologist. You say your gp does not have a clue, if so, why is she not passing you onto someone who may well be able to help you. Why do some GPs do this?

You mention a consultant in your posting. Is he a gastroenterologist?

I do hope that you can get this sorted as it must be such a worry for you and should be taken seriously by your GP, consultant, or whoever you are seeing.

    HI Sue
I have RA and fibro and sometimes wake up feeling sick and not wanting to eat I think its general inflamation that makes us feel so crappy. I have to sit and relax for a bit before I attempt to take meds or food/drinks I usually go out with dog or if my joints wont allow I go in garden and check my plants for a bit the fresh air seems to clam things down.

(Just a thought though have they checked your sugar levels as your shaky symptoms sound like my mum in law whos diabetic and when her sugar goes low she has hot and cold sweats, shakes and feels sickly. She wakes up in the early hours in a hypo she now keeps a drink and biscuit at side of her bed just in case if she catches it early she doesnt feel so ill through the day.)
probably no help at all I hope you get sorted soon
