Hi all,

I have decided that I am sick and tired of what arthritis has done to me, I used to go out Sea kayaking in the Thames Estuary before I became disabled and have really missed it.

I have been given an amazing Sea Kayak and I got back in for the first time in 4 years last Thursday, it was choppy and I spent more time in the water than upright, but I have made some custom adjustments and will try again!

I am in for more knee prodding surgery on Wednesday and after recovery I will get back out there.

I plan to paddle a series of challenges starting next year to raise money fro Arthritis Care and Essex Air Ambulance, so watch this space, I am taking my life back!

Oh zechariah, that is good news to hear on a cold, gloomy and rainy May morning! Well done to you, I hope the surgery goes well and that your recovery goes smoothly - and good luck for your future exploits. I wish you well. DD

Well, Zechariah, they do say swimming is an excellent exercise for arthritis!

Seriously, good for you, going back to the kayaking and not letting the arthritis take too much pleasure away.

Good luck for Wednesday & for next year's challenges.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Don't get me wrong, it hurts like mad when I am in the kayak but then it hurts everyday anyway, so its worth extra pain to feel alive :)

Lets hope ATOS don't find out ! ssshhh

Hi Zechariah, You really are a good role model for anyone who is disabled and wants to keep enjoying what they love. I think your great! I hope everything goes well and the knee holds out and doesn't give you to much pain. Please keep us informed on how everything goes and I hope the weather behaves for you. All the best.
