Goodmorning
Im after a little bit of advice if possible please

I got a letter this morning from the hospital and it listed that my alk levels are 308, it goes on to say that my raised levels are all pre-Methotrexate.

Am i worring for nothing?

At the back of my meth booklet it states that alk phosph are not routinely recorded as slightly raised levels are common. I have no idea what the levels are (it doesn't say) nor whether you should be worried or not. If they were raised pre-meth then that would indicate that, perhaps, they are dropping with the taking the drug.

The trouble with these letters is that they are sent to the patients (who generally tend not to be doctors!) and thus have no idea what the results may or may not mean. I am not a doc either: if it were me I wouldn't fret, I would assume that if there was cause for concern my GP would get in touch, or the hospital, to ask for more tests (as indeed they have in the past). I have never asked for copies of letters precisely for this reason - I don't know enough about it all. I wish you well. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Lilly,

Welcome to the forum and glad you have found it though not glad you have had to.

I am not sure what this one actually means. I know that if things are important (in respect of not to good a result) they ring you before the letter comes but if I were you I would go see your gp and get it translated into easy to understand words.

I really hope its not going to effect the treatment your on? Let us know please could you what they say. Nice to meet you Cris x
