I have sero-neg inflam arthritis. These last few weeks I have been suffering with my feet. They are starting to ache & feel really sore & tender on the ball / heel. This happens towards the end of the day, esp when I have been on my feet a lot.

Is this to be expected? Can anyone offer advice / tips / treatments? I keep rubbing deep freeze gel on them & wear cushioned footwear (eg Clarks). Just wondering if you can recommend anything else.

Thank you x

    Hi Sugarbuttie,
I get this a lot with my feet, I have PA and the toes are quite badly affected. I found a footspa really helps, I got one from b**ts and add sanctuary bath oil to it for a treat when the feet have had enough!!
Also I find peppermint foot lotion from bodysh*p cooling and lovely if kept in the fridge.
    Hope that helps :?: hugs ((())) x

    Hi SB,
It can be inked to the inflammatories i am afraid. i get toe pain and swelling, the balls of the feet swell and hurt and go red as well as the instep which suddenly just really hurt. like Poppy I have pa but I also have oa in the feet and am never sure which is which.

Mine get a huge amount of cramp as well so I have Frankie's boots and trainers as they act as splints to be honest. I d use gel insoles as well and cumfy socks that are always thick no matter how hot it might get (my feet don't bother to get hot so I am lucky)

Worth you mentioning it to either the gp, rumo or rumo nurse depending on which one you see first. Hope it eases back for you Cris x

Do everything that everyone has said, wear good supporting shoes/boots (yup, sorry, it's time to ditch the sparkly flip-flops!) but most importantly rest your tooties as often as you can, preferably with them raised. Get your weight off them from time to time, that will ease things a little more. Like Poppy I have PA which has affected my toes and I rest them as much as I can. It does help. I wish you well. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

I can only say what has been said already...soak them on a night and sit resting with legs raised.

Thank you. I have bought some gel insoles today. Been really bad today - reduced to tears when got in from work. Now on settee with feet up & a glass of something nice - feeling better already.

Got appt with rumo nurse in June - will she be able to refer me to foot specialist or something?

At first it was my hands, then knees, now feet......

    Hi SB,

I wonder if it would be better to see your gp before that flower. its a while to wait and really it might be a good idea to talk to someone before then?

Hope they are more comfortable for you today. Cris x

I have been even worse today...had to take shoes off at work & so painful to stand / walk. Am now in bed after another bout of tears - mostly out of fear & frustration. I feel I am getting nowhere fast. I struggle through work / chores only to flop on sofa / bed in a heap at the end of the day.

I am going to ring the GP tomorrow & try & get an appt. I just can't think what she can offer me. I already have 30/500 cocodamol. Can't take NSAIDs due to acid reflux / gastritis issues. My feet don't look or feel inflamed - what is causing such pain / soreness?

    Thanks for your support x

Hi, definitely be ringing your gp tomorrow. You can't carry on like that. Are you on any DMARDS? They can give you a short course of steroids to reduce the inflammation. If you are not on DMARDS, you need to be seeing the rheumy nurse so they can see how bad things are.

Have you tried taking a photo of your feet to show how red and swollen they get to take with you to your rheumy appt?? I found that helped me, as my joints don't usually oblige by being swollen etc on my appt days.

Like the others, I have soaked my feet. When they are really hot, I put them on a bottle of cold water from the fridge for a short while, I find it brings relief. I kind of roll it along my feet, back and forth. As it is a plastic bottle it is not too hard on my feet and is just the right size ( a small one )Sounds silly, but i find it helps. Resting your feet up, does help as well.

Could you get a little footstool at work, for under your desk, whilst they are so painful? Put a cushion on top and it takes the weight off them for a while. Just a thought.

    Sorry can't be more helpful.

suzygirl - I will try the bottle of water thing plus something to rest feet on at work.

I am on hydroxy & sulph. Wondering if GP can try me on a different NSAID to help reduce inflmmation? I now take a tummy protector so might be able to tolerate something else.....

    Had steroid injection in March.

Will def try to see GP.
