Hi Suzanne, pocket duty is where when we all gather in cyber space to be with one and all for the tuff times , appointments of any kind , and every other reason if needed ,so those peeps that might be a little nervous can feel less alone , and you can even get PA dutys that can update the pocket dwellers to know you are not alone is a wonderfull thing x

    Hi Suzanne

Yes, it must appear a little bizarre to newbies to the forum when they see "pocket duties" going on here! It is not kinky or anything!

I think it was Cris (Skezier) who first thought of this great idea and it took off really well.

As has been said anyone can ask for them or others offer if you are nervous about ops, appointments etc. Also if you do not feel so good but wish to let others on the forum know, you can Private Message one person who you have got to "know" and they will post a message on the forum for you. We worry/get concerned about people if they post regularly and then for some reason or other stop. Sometimes it is because their pc has had a wobbly!

Pocket duty is entirely voluntary and all comers are welcome. From the time I have been on here I have come to realise that it's usual for someone to 'advertise' for another to be supported rather than asking for onself (although asking is fine if it's a very sudden appointment and, let's face it, that can happen). PA duties are one step further and involve people having each others' mobile numbers etc, so that updates can be sent as and when - and if the person with the appointment etc approves of updates being posted. There are a fair few on here who do not have much in the way of family support at appointments etc, so it's a good way for people to realise that although they are seeing docs etc on their own, they are not alone. Elna is right it was invented by Cris (skezier) for use when any of us is feeling nervous about any kind of appointment.

It is lovely to know that others are thinking of you (who REALLY understand),even if you have good family support.

Cris invents these names 'armchair duties'...sleeping in your chair

'evening duties' ...in her case feeding and tending to her sheep etc.

She is currently doing 'PA duties' which is being in touch with one of us to feed back to the rest of us see Iris(Dorcas) thread.

    Are we mad????? :???:

    Hi DD

What are you apologising form my lovely? None required at all from you - perhaps I should apologise that we were tapping away at the keys at the same time and pressed the send button together, or i just beat you!

The more the merrier that reply the better, aye? I am sorry you are not having a good day - again. Let's hope tomorrow is better. Thanks for asking, I am getting used to my "fat" foot but have for the last 5 days been able to squeeze it into a sandal that has velcro attachments so can be loosened a little to accommodate the "podge".The consultant is patting himself on the back so I must just be a patient, patient. Difficult though at times!

Of course it is difficult to be a patient patient - you are fixed, mended and you wanno go go go! Hang on in there tho - the 'podge' needs to reduce a little and possibly won't if you keep trying to trip the light fandango!

Isn't 'podge' a lovely word? Take care, and keep getting better. DD
