Well done, for managing to get off the steroids!!! I know how tough it is. I am trying to drop from 7.5mg to 5mg at the moment, and not succeeding. It is so encouraging to hear that someone else has managed it.
Do you take nsaids?? I tried going back onto them to tide me over, but the side effects were too much.
I wish you well for your gps appt. Lets hope you get some decent painkillers.0 -
Well done, now don't over do it. Hope you get some painkillers organised that really help.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Good for you, katknapp. What an achievement! I know how hard it is to get off steroids.
I do hope you can get some decent pain relief sorted out quickly.
All power to your elbow.....and other bits.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Many congratulations katknapp, now the hard work really begins - staying off the little beggurs. Pain will appear to increase, your body may take a little longer than you wish to start making its own version of the stuff to a sufficient standard, but try NOT to go back onto mother's little helpers, they are the road to physical ruin (not that we are on that road already, obviously  ). I am down to 7.5 as from today, I think I will do a month on that (my little programme is already so far behind schedule I reckon this'll take two years ) but the pain is about the same - it stays at a constant level whether I am on 20 or 10, so I guess I am fortunate in that: what I miss from the 20 dose is the 'mental strength' to cope. Stay strong, try not to give in, I wish you the very best. Your envious friend, DD.Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Well done Knatnapp for coming off setriods, and I hope that you get the best pain killers for you soon. And that things get more comfortable for you soon. Take care. Amanda, (bubbadog).xx0

Hi Kate,
Well done for getting off them and hope they are pleased with you? Really hope the pain and swellings stay down and glad you feel improvements as well now. cris x0 -
Well done! You must be smiling from ear to ear knowing you have taken back control!
I am down to 4mg daily and on Monday going to try 3mg.
As DreamDaisy said - your body will take a while to settle without the Pred. so when you find a painkiller try not to pop them too much as I found myself doing for a couple of weeks!
