I have an unused, still wrapped item to return to an electrical store (£30 dvd). On the receipt I have 21 days to return it but just realised today is the23rd day. Any one tried to replace an item over the stated limit? Does a few days extra really matter? Time has just flown by.

Hi elizabeth I would certainly give it a go.

Hopefully just a couple of days won't make a difference.

    Good luck

Take it back as long as the seal is still intact. Don't point out the time limit to them, say bought recently and vaguely wave receipt. If it was paid for with a card they will normally want to recredit the same card.

Even if they say it is over the time, ask a supervisor for a goodwill payment in vouchers or have another DVD in mind and ask for a straight swap. If no go, save it for someone's birthday or ultimately flog off on ebay.

A store credit. Of course they won't refuse that and not sure why I didn't think of that. Thank you Joseph. And thanks too to Julie and Sylvia for your replies too. Hope you are well?

Hi Cathy I think is the same shop where you work. I bought some Norton security for new laptop but my comp man said not worth installing, stick with AVG free. I meant to take it back straightaway but what with school extra days off, forms to fill , visits to prospective schools for my son and the odd day in bed due to arthritis my time ran out.

You'd be right to stick with AVG, totally free & very good, also user friendly.. We have that & Spybot Search & Destroy, also free.

    Best of luck mi dear.

Thanks Tony. I was just buying up loads of stuff as I had been let loose in the store. I had an £80 credit to spend anyway so that was an added incentive.Of course I got offered this and that insurance cover too and then Norton. I do have issues with my laptops as you know! So Norton seemed a good idea at the time.

I'm happy to get a credit note back as will be buying a new TV and printer soon.

No you haven't missed the boat Tony. It won't happen before Monday. Crumbs I have had to give up gardening as a bit of weeding and pruning finished me off too. And curry and rice...lovely...tempting but promised myself a chinese take away tonight!
    Take care Mr T,

Well possibly will try to return it on Tuesday as daughter has a hospital appointment tomorrow middle of the day.

I will keep you all informed  about the return of said goods. If no luck I will have to phone swap shop.

    OK - thank you!

If all else fails, you could always try FB - have sold the odd thing or two by just putting it on my status - seriously!
