    they were talking about metal on metal hip joints and how they having to remove a certain type (they used mainly in the young 30ish) as metal on metal causing problems very interesting val

    I saw the programme, and it's worrying for anyone who has had one of these metal on metal type of hip replacements in the past. A lot of them have failed because the metal has worn away, causing problems. Apparently, it is only one particular type which is now having to be replaced.

    Joans right it was one sort it can cause higher levels of metals in the blood that's one way they can detect there is a problem, like all things medical and mechanical there can be design faults that only come out years later, they did say it was only a small % of those fitted but if your worried then I would go to your GP and have a word.
