Foot doc wait!

I have been referred to the specialist podiatrist by my rheumatologist, I got a letter from the foot clinic at the end of March saying I was on the list and would get another letter when they were ready to offer me an appointment.

The orthotics I was recently given through the NHS have started falling apart already, only had them a few months, and I believe causing a lot of the problems in my right ankle. I decided today to put in my old ones and see how I go with them.

I dug out the letter from the foot clinic and called them today to ask how long the wait will be. There's only one doctor for all of Leeds and she's on maternity leave, they won't be covering her position, and she won't be back until August! Damned NHS cuts!

Hi Pherstun, I'm a bit in the dark here. What's a 'specialist podiatrist' & what do they do? I see a bog-standard one who cuts my toe nails & keeps an eye on the rest of my feet for up-coming problems. I'd be interested to learn what else a podiatrist does.

Also, when you speak of 'the orthotics' falling apart, do you mean surgical shoes (which can be mended) or an insole? I've had tons of insoles and find they usually only start to fall apart when a part of the shoe sticks into them creating a weak spot. If yours are no longer usable could you ring orthotics for another pair. Just a thought.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
