I am still wide awake because my big toe feels like its on fire!

I have googled Gout cos this is what first came to mind but gout is described as swelling in the joint. This is more like the fleshy bit under my big toe. It feels like its scaulded. Has anyone else had this or is it indeed gout.

Thanks for reading Petals

    Hi Petals

Do you have circulation problems at all? I say this because I am diabetic and have neuropathy of the feet which gives me lots of pain exactly as you describe in all my toes. It is the nerve endings in the toes that cause it.
Just one idea to consider but could be other things i guess

    Hope it improves

    Hi Petals,
Yes I get this too, most of my toes are affected with PA, including my big toe, my Rheumy did the tests for gout but my uric acid levels were fine so it's definately PA.
I use a foot spa if it's driving me up the wall  or pop my feet on a hot water bottle. We are all different, some people prefer ice packs or failing that a bag of frozen peas  i also keep some peppermint foot lotion (sanctuary b**ts) in the fridge to rub on but it's whatever does it for you Petals. I also make sure I stay topped up with my pain meds.
Hope that helps, and your definitely not alone Petals, thinking of you x
