    Hi Chinup,
Well done on your successful infusion  I really hope it works out for you  I too suffered dreadful mouth ulcers with methotrexate, my chemist recommended Bonjella complete plus, it's a paint on numbing gel and it does work.
All the best Chinup, well done again, hugs Xxx

    Hello Chinup and Poppy

So glad infusion went well for you today Chinup (apart from the numb bum!). Was it Infliximab? Rituximab? Really hope the headache eases and the mouth ulcers improve soon and that the new drug works for you.

    Love Tilly xxx

    Hi
Thanks tillytop and poppyg1rl for your kind words, lets hope this does work, the next one is in two weeks, attually it was nice to sit down for a while, nurses were lovely, lots of cups of tea, buicuits and even a sandwich for lunch i was in from 8.15 and left at 2.45, they were so good to me as I was nervous not knowing how I was going to respond to the Infliximab. I hope you are both ok. x

Well done.....glad it went well.......reasonably LOL
As for mouth ulcers.......its not because of meds I get them.....just run down i think. I find bonjela.....being a gel tends to slip off your gums.
I find anbesol much better.....its a liquid and is an anaesthetic and antiseptic...so it numbs them. You will find it behind the counter in B**ts
Its actually a teething liquid for babies and I discovered it when my 31 yr old and 30 yr old were babies and it was great for ulcers. Recently I went to get it and could only find the gel type....that defeated the purpose. I asked and was told "ask for it"....its behind the counter.....its a teething liquid and mothers are overdosing their kids on it so apparently they get talked to before they sell it to them.

I loved having inflixi infusions, it was a chance to loll around for a few hours chatting, reading, supping tea and munching biscuits - much more fun and sociable than the other methods of treatment. I hope it works for you, I think the drill is another in two weeks, then a month, then every two months? Is my memory right on that? Anyhoo, rest well today, some people can feel very tired with it after, and I hope you feel some sort of benefit sooner rather than later. DD

    Hiya,

Glad to hear it went ok for you. Were you not allowed to stand up and stretch every now and then? I have no idea how these things work, so I may be asking a silly question.

Are you taking folic acid every day (except for MTX day)? I was only taking it once a week and the ulcers have improved since I started taking it 6 days a week instead. Also, the pharmacist told me it's important to use a decent mouth wash and make sure you brush your teeth more often than you would normally.

Apparently it's going to be a warm weekend. Yay for the sun!

I hope your headache has cleared up by today and that this is a good drug for you. Fingers crossed for symptom relief for you.

    Hi All
Hooray my headache has gone, I woke up sunday morning and felt good, except for a very sore mouth still, I only take the folic acid once a week 2 days after my mt, maybe i should take it six days out of seven, I use a mouthwash as im worried my teeth are going to fall out, i have all my own teeth and have looked after them, but the way my gums are with being so sore and bleeding im a bit worried, and its only since starting the mtrx, my sores and ulsers in mouth started about three weeks later, I suffer with serjons syndrome so i tend to use baby toothpaste which does not burn so much, but my mouthwash sets my mouth on fire but i put up with it for 30 seconds lol. on a positive note I have been painfree of arthur for a few days now, lets hope it is the infusions but i would have thought it would be to early to say at the moment. thanks for all your support and replys , it rained all weekend here so lets hope summer starts soon. take care . xx

This takes me back to my infusions they were only 1 hour ones but by the time you got seen plugged in etc you were there for two. Cup of tea and a chat with everyone else was great. Now youve had youre first you can relax and enjoy the company hopefully

With my first inflixi I clattered in on two sticks, four hours or so later I left - on none. Lovely stuff. I wish you well and I hope the benefits last a deal longer for you than they did for me. DD

PS Starburst? It's difficult to move around - you are tethered to a machine which, in my hospital, doesn't have wheels. I just laid back in the recliner and enjoyed myself!

    Hi All

Well two steps forward and back one, with the ulcers that I have, i thought the ones inside my cheek had got infected and had spread under my eye, as it was a painful and felt as if I had scalded my skin, by yesterday morning it had crept up above my eye and into my scalp, so I phoned up my doctors surgery and went for a appointment at tea time, expecting the doc to say, iyes you have a infection and put me on antibiotics, but no she said I have got shingles, I was shocked as I do not have any spots, but have been warned if I see one spot to phone up and they will give me a anti viral drug, doc gave me tablets to take only at night antitriplym (spelling) felt spaced out this morning, and she gave me a spray for my ulcers, which is brill. anyway Im still free from arthur pain which is a great thing I did not know infusions worked so quick?.
hope you are all coping, take care x
