I thought I'd say hello. I contacted Arthritis Care today with some problems I'm having in claiming benefits. They were very helpful. I have severe bi-lateral Talipes Equinovarus and have been told that I can't claim DLA as my condition is "likely to improve!!" I WISH. Anyone else had problems?

    Hi Cloud9

Welcome to the forum. I googled bi-lateral Talipes Equinovarus because I had not heard about it/did not recognise the name and now I understand a little of what it is and I should not have thought that it was "likely to improve" without an operation taking place, if that is possible. It was good that you called the helplines. I presume you will have to fight your corner to claim DLA and I sincerely hope that you succeed.

Thankyou for replying. I have had surgery in October 2010. It was a triple arthrodesis. This alone is quite a severe step but my wonderful surgeon informed me that, without it, my mobility would be severely compromised within 10 years. I had complications following surgery, with a haematoma and subsequent necrosis. I had to have further surgery on May 3rd to debride the incision to get rid of the infection. I may still have to have a graft. When this is all over, my left foot will be operated on. Cutting a long story very short, I had planned to return to work in between getting the right foot and left foot done. Due to the complications my employer had to "let me go" as I'd had the limit, (28 weeks) of SSP. I have been waiting 3 months now and I still am not in receipt of any benefits.
