I started with this damn cough last Thursday and it isn't getting any better.
I really need my operation on Wednesday and am now scared it's going to be cancelled. If that happens I'm back in limbo land not knowing when I'll next get a date.
Why oh why did this have to happen now?
Off to get a spoonful of honey (ma-in-law says it'll cure it) as I don't know what else to do.

Hi Legs,
Oh flower thats sods law 16.....
Cus of the mtx etc you should get it looked at I think... I know the reluctance but it doesn't mean they wont do you....
See if you can see the doc tomorrow.... it might be a quick fix and not get in the way.
Legs i know limbo land is a horrible place but it might be that it would be better for you just this once? See what they say flower but I promise you I had my back done and had a cough and they used to come round 3x a day and basically beat me up..... Its not good and that as without the mtx back then....
hang in there and sending a de-cough draft and so much hope.
Love
Cris who really does have to go get some nits done xxx0 -
Thanks Cris, that's a good idea I'll get an emergency appointment tomorrow and see if GP can help.
Meanwhile I'll take your de-cough draft.
Hugs for you (((( ))))Love, Legs x

Nightmare Legs.
Dose up on vitamin C and Zinc if your meds allow and take lemon juice and honey and rest as much as you can.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Oh Legs like Cris says its sods law, hopefully it wont be bad enough to cancel your op...I will have everything crossed for you, I really will.
Please let us know how it goes.Love

Oh Legs I am so sorry!
I can't add anything to the tips others have given and I really hope that it goes and that it doesn't stop the surgery on Weds.
Thinking of you.
Lots love Tilly xxx0 -
Oh Legs! The worst pre-op nightmare.
Best get it checked out. Delayed op would be bad but anaesthetic problems'd be worse.
Wishing you well.

Thanks everyone, must admit I'm feeling a tad glum as I cough and splutter all over the keyboard.
I've made a note of all your tips.
I'll let you know what the doc says tomorrow.
Off for a shower before yet another sleepless night coughing!!!!
See y'all, night-night. :sad:Love, Legs x

Aw dear Linda
That is not good but worrying about it will not help either, but of course you are, because of being turned down on the day.
Good idea, try to get a gp appointment, and use steam and olbas oil. Is it a really bad cough, is it accompanied with a cold which I don't think it is, because you would have said. Is it a tickly cough or a "chesty" cough? Do you feel ok in yourself, that is the main thing, surely. I suppose you do not want to call the consultant's secretary to discuss your worry.
I do hope all will be well and it goes ahead for you. I know how much you are pinning your hopes on getting this done, as I would be too.
Thinking of you and hope you can shove this cough off by Wednesday.
Love

Hi Linda,
I hope you manage to get an appointment with your Dr tomorrow. Lynn’s hot toddies recipe sounds good to me.
I have everything crossed that the flippin cough disappears for you double quick.

Hi Legs,
Just leaving you a ((((( ))))) and a top up for the cough draft bucket.
Really glad you will see your gp if possible... Legs how ever bad limbo is see what they say flower cus your important and the ga could make you much worse. hang in there and good luck cus it might b just a simple not to worry about cough.
Love Cris who doesn't have nits but can't vouch for the lodgers beyond the bits I have looked at hell my eyes needed the drip xx0 -
Oh no! Are you off the meth anyway 'cos of the op or is your surgeon one who allows meth to be taken? If it's the former then hopefully it will clear before Wednesday but if it's the latter . . . . . Oh lindalegs, I hope this can be sorted before Wednesday, I really do. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

oh no legs
I hope the doc can sort you with something to help with the cough, and that the op isn't postponed.
Got my fingers crossed for you
Juliepf x0 -
What a shame Linda but of course they/you won't want to risk an op if you are showing any difficulties with breathing. Hot toddies definately and hopefully it will be clear by Wednesday morning.
Good luck Linda.I will be thinking of you,

Hi Linda
I hope you managed to see the dr today and hopefully your cough is not going to hinder your op on Wed.
Wishing you well and fingers crossed.

Hi legs
This is dreadful news you must be beside yourself!!!!
Have you been able to get to the docs at all? I do hope all will be well, but am thinking if the doc isnt happy then a call to the sec may be in order.
If they do decide to cancel then maybe she will look at rescheduling at the same time.
Love and hugs

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for your replies, support is one of the best things about this forum, it gives such a boost for those in need.
Saw GP and had a thorough examination. He says my cough is either stress related or viral. As I'm not running a temperature and I have good oxygen levels in my blood he says the operation will go ahead.
If a chest infection develops within 24 hours, which he thinks is unlikely, then he'll put me on antibiotics in which case they would have to postpone.
He recommends steam inhalation and says it'll be all systems go for Wednesday ....YAY
I just hope I don't have a bout of coughing as they insert my spinal block

Oh that is good news although I am sorry you are being troubled by the cough. Keep away from the germ-ridden human race over the next few hours, I hope the cough eases and that it WILL be all-systems-go! on Wednesday. Take care, legs. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hiya, dear Linda
Just seen your message.Yay! So relieved and pleased that your gp gave you an overhaul and does not see why the op cannot go ahead. That must make you feel less stressed immediately. I know you have been worrying about it, along with everything else and very understandably too.
You will be ok, my lovely, I can feel it in my creaky, old bones.
Tons of gentle hugs and good vibes,

Lindalegs that is good news, now get your head over a bowl of hot water
and I wish you luck for wednesday

Hi Legs,
oh flower that is good news cus I know how much you want this over with..... not surprisingly that bit eh?
Will be in the shadows and leap out to stop you coughing no matter what on wednesday, and you wouldn't want that so don't cough....
Hey just remember Oneday was asking about the blocks, do you know which vertebrae they are going to do it in?
laving a specially prepared bucket of bran, ucolisis and boiling water... it works for the lodgers though they tend to eat it
Love and a skip load of ((((( ))))) Cris who is getting the back up anti cough draft sorted xx0 -
Collywobble! I'm not sure that was quite what the doc ordered. Sounds a better option though.
Best cold cure I was ever given was whisky, hot water & tiny amount of sugar. Did it work? Can't remember. Did I care? Oh no! Better minus the sugar though. And the water.
Legs I'm so glad it's going ahead. Don't worry about it. They won't jeopardise their knee joints so, if they say it'll be OK, it'll be OK.
Be thinking of you.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
