Hi all,

Hope you all had a decent weekend? Despite having a very relaxed one, I STILL managed to fall asleep on my way to work this morning. It's a regular occurence, and I wondered if anyoen else suffers like this and if you have any tips? More sleep doesn't seem to help, it feels like a chronic must-sleep-now-no-energy-going-to-crash-can't-move-arms-like-lead-feet-not-working-eyes-must-close sort of feeling, which is not helpful as I have a full time job :(

I have recently diagnosed fibro and OA, mainly fibro causing issues I think.

Any tips welcomed please!

xx

Hi Wannabewriter, Extreme fatigue can definitely be a problem with RA. Not sure about OA & Fibro. You don't say what meds you're on &, if you've said in the past, I'm afraid I can't remember your family circumstances. (Children are exhausting for anyone even before you factor in illness) Might it be a med problem rather than an arthritis one? Just a thought. Doc might be able to help you on that.

Hi Valval and Sticky, thank you for replying.

Sticky, I'm only on 10mg amitryptiline at night which has helped with quality of sleep, but not with the exhaustion if that makes sense? As for children, that's a LONG way off yet (I'm only a young un at 23!). I recently had my bloods all checked as I have a thyroid thing too, but it asll come back normal, which can be very frustrating!

    Thanks for your replies :)

Ah, I wish I had a £10 for every time my 'bloods have come back normal' & I've felt anything but.

I don't know about thyroid problems tho' I have a vague feeling they can make you feel shattered.

I do know that Tillytop has a thread on Amitryptilene just below your own. Consensus seems to be that you need to take it by 8pm or else you will feel spaced out in the morning. Hope this helps.

    Thanks Sticky,

I take the ami about 7pm as I researched it on here soon as it was prescribed :) it's good to know you can rely on proper knowledge rather than the ifs and buts and whathaveyous on those information leaflets you get with it - real, proper experience counts so much more I think!

Will keep an eye on it to see if it might be that though...

Yup, they were tellng me for yonks my throid was fine but oh look, it was growing things on it to try and make enough of the hormone it produces as my meds weren't high enough! Bloods schmloods.

    THanks :)

Tiredness is a factor of fibro, OA, RA, PA any other kind of A one can mention. It's not a nice tired either, it is a drained and wiped out form of it. The meds one is on can also affect tiredness levels. I am sitting here yawning my head off, I have to wake up as work is beckoning. Never mind, I am used to working with only about half of my brain being active but it does affect my levels of patience. I have already cancelled my last client of the day, I know I won't be able to manage. DD

Tee hee, my blood sugar levels will never be too low, my little animal called Greed sees to that! Although I try to be healthy with oatcakes instad of biscuits etc, sometimes nothing except a choccy bar will do :D

Today it's been all abut the caffeine, but I know that's not the way to go long term...
