Hi...thanks all for being with me today....dont know what you picked up but.... he couldnt help me....Said my kypho scoliosis was much worse than the last time I had seen him.....doubtful that an op could be done at my age...he always was tactful  but at least he said he couldnt help me and didnt try to do anything and bring me back for further useless appointments.
He did examine my back but no crunching or anything
He said, it cant be cured....you know that I'm sure so we have to have a plan. He asked who the back specialist was...I told him and he snorted and said I dont reate him at all....hes an orthopaedic back specialist and you need a neuroligical back specialist.....But the plan....first i would go back to the orthopaedic surgeon wh did your first hip and get your second one done.
Then ask him to refer you to a NEUROLIGAL back specialist.....I doubt that he will be able to do anything......then if necessary to apain clinic.
This osteopath trained as a GP and wanted to go into ortopaedics himself and di d the training but didnt agree with their methods so thats when he trained as an osteopath.
I think thats about it
Next thing on the list is the orthopaedic surgeon.....got an appointment for the 17th of this month.
Love
Hileena

Oh Hileena, what a lot for you to take in :???: try to rest this evening your head must be spinning. I'm afraid I don't know enough about what was said (I'm still a newbie really to arfur) but it sounds like you've to do a lot of ringing around and thinking.
Sending all my love, strength, support and hugs to you xxx

    Hi Poppy
Thanks for those words.......I was quite upset really...burst into tears at home.....not really knowing why???? Think it was ...I know arthur is incurable and scoliosis is incurable but they should be manageable to a degree.......to hear someone else saying it and saying I was so much worse than the last time I'd seen him {although thats a few years ago}made it so much worse.....not really sure why???????

    Oh Hileena
You really have had some knock backs, I do sometimes wonder where these doctors are coming from.
Like poppy says try to get some rest tonight, and tomorrow is another day, I am waiting for an appointment to see a neurologist for my back , not a clue what they do, I think we may end up comparing notes.
Sending you loads of hugs (((((())))) and love

hope that you are sleeping by now. I had forgotten who's pockets I was jumping in and out of today, been a busy day. It is horrible to hear such things, even when we usually know the truths before they're said out loud.

I'm now taking a metaphoric run up so I can give you an almighty kick up the jacksy...

Oh dear. Hileena, I am so sorry to read this, how upsetting that all must have been. I think one of the problems we all face on here is yes, we know that arthritis means an on-going deterioration in matters (I don't know much about scoliosis but I guess that falls into the same category) and we become used to adjusting and altering the way we live as things worsen - to the point that we don't really recognise the degree of change in us from one season to the next. It's only when we come into contact with someone that we don't see very often that remarks can be made (unthinkingly perhaps, or as a result of the shock that person is feeling on seeing us and how much we have altered) and those remarks bring it all into a muich sharper focus. And yes, it hurts. It brings you up short, throws you into a state of disarray, causes turmoil and upset and basically you feel as though you been chucked back to square one.

Take some time out over the next couple of days, go for a day out with Mr H perhaps, do summat lovely, and be kind to yourself. I am thinking of you. DD

    HI hileena

I used to see a chiropractor and whenever he felt I (or my kids) needed referring to other specialists he used to write a supporting letter to avoid any scoffing about the patient knowing whats best..... has your osteopath written you a letter to ask for the other services? Maybe you could ask so that he could it would save any confusion and would probably move things quicker.

Hope everything goes ok for you

Hi DD...you are so right about knowing but accepting things until someone who hasnt seen us for ages says something......
I think its pride as much as anything else.....scol. is more deforming than my arthur is anyway.....so now I think I'm more bent than I really am if you know what I mean......
Mr H is working today so wont be going out with him but I am going to see a good friend shortly for coffee...one i havent see for ages....so that will be the morning taken up :P
Hope your course went well yesterday

I'm sorry for the moan i have had over the past couple of days.
In the middle of it all I should have remembered to say that I had actually managed to get my doctors changed.......Just walked into the surgery that I wanted to go to {the one that said if I had a doc and wasnt new to the area they couldnt take me} got a form....took it home, filled it in and returned it. She said that should be on the system in a couple of days.......so I assume thats me changed?????

Hileena, I'm so pleased the change of doc thing seems to be going through smoothly and not at all surprised you were so upset after seeing the osteopath - so much to take in and quite negative stuff too.

I hope the orthopaedic appointment goes well. Be thinking of you.

Hi hun.. Glad you felt that kick, lol. Took a lot of effort that did :lol:
I recently changed my docs too. Had to see the nurse there first, went through my history, briefly as I don't think they do week long appointments, got weighed, took height etc and from that point on I was registered with them, easy process. Plus my prescription goes straight to b00t5, all I did was tell them I've changed docs & what gp I would be under and they sorted the rest.

    Best of luck mi dear

    Hi Sticky
Yes it was a bit negative wasnt it...Oh well I'll recover
Tony ..yes the boot reached here
I think i expected more than just filling in forms....something like you Tony...they would want a history or something so I'll not be convinced until I have an appointment with them :???: I've just got a repeat prescription so no reason to go to them yet.....and old doc changed my meds from codeine to tramadol x 3......got that on Fri, got it made up on Sat and this is Tues and I haven't taken one yet.....chicken  I remember how groggy I was on them after my THR although i suppose that could have been the result of the op as well. :?:

If you had GA for the THR then yes, the trammies on top of what they gave you would make you feel extra groggy. I must admit I enjoyed that after all my ops. I had on-demand morphone after all three, that was great, I lived in a lovely pink haze for a couple of days after then they took it away, miserable so-and-sos. I managed to achieve the same effect at home tho when things all got a little too much! Am I odd? DD....do you really want me to answer that question :lol::lol:
No I didnt have GA....had a spinal block that they had great difficulty getting in because of my kyphoscoliosis......I'm sitting on the edge of the theatre bed with legs dangling expecting the spinal block to be done in no time....instead of that all I could hear was talking....can't find a place to insert this needle.....can you do it....no.....That inspired a lot of confidence NOT :x eventually someone came and managed it...by that time I was shaking.....theatres are kept cold...... well with sitting for quite a while and not feeling very confident about what was going on...it was a mixture of cold and fear :P
I remember that haze with pethadone when I was having my first one.....fantastic feeling :P
