Hi, sorry I haven't been around much. Am struggling to control my diabetes at the moment, despite my pred reduction.
Had a gp appt today, first bp measurememnt wouldnt read as it was so high, second one was 157/101. I was calm until that point. Now I am totally stressed out and flapping.
It has been high for over a year now, so he has prescribed ramipril. I know this is a bit off topic, but anyone else on it?? Or any other T2 diabetics?? I hate this blooming illness and all it brings with it. I won't bore anyone with my long list of ailments, but this is not good news on a few fronts.
Could do with a chill pill, as my son would say!
Help, really stressed out.

I was given ramopril to help with my raised BP (that came courtesy of the humira), I take it with bendrofluorazide and both have helped. I began with just the bendro but that did little, so the ram was added. My figures were roughly the same as yours, after a few weeks they dropped to 140/85. The GP said she would prefer 140/80 so I smiled sweetly and said that unfortunately not all of us get what we want from life.
I have gotten on with it fine, but I don't have the diabetes to contend with. I hope it suits and I hope it helps. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

Hi Suzygirl
Not so off topic really l think...medication
My MIL has ramipril...l think it is a diuretic and it HAS reduced her BP amazingly.
She has been insulin depedant dibetic for about 40 years.
Hope it helps

Hello Suzy
I do understand why you are fed up about this as I have just added BP meds to my list of pills and potions. Just goes on and on, doesn't it? But in terms of Ramipril, both my husband and my sister in law take it - and it works really well for both of them, with no adverse effect. Hope it helps you Suzy.
Thinking of you.

Thanks, I have taken it today and yesterday with no side effects so far. He also swapped my diabetic med, to another and have had no effects from that, so far anyway . . .

Hi Suzy,
I am sorry your having a few things all mounting up against you there. I have been put on bp drugs as a dilatory and they have taken my bp down as well so might be worth a try?
They said they were new and there may be reasons why you can't take them but they are called Losartan and I am on the 25mg ones. I haven't had too many side effects and most the ones i have had have been low bp related.
Really hope you got a good night and have a bit f luck and find the drugs will all just work. Don;t know abut you but thats something I really do wish for. ((((( ))))) and a treat for Izzy Cris xx0 -
Hi im also t2 diabetic plus all the other things i have been on ramipril for a few months now in fact just had another increase the second in a month as bp still going the wrong way also had bendroflumethiazide added to the forever growing list of meds this is as already said a diuretic that helps to bring bp down the nurse said it makes the kidneys produce more water how this reduces bp i dont know but as im due a bp test next monday ill see if there is any difference0

Thanks to all who have replied. I was reading up today and it says inflammation can cause high bp and the crp test is a predictor of who will get hypertension!
Is there no end, to the damage it does to us?? :shock:0
