Morning Val..
I have the depo mendrone steroid injection every 12 weeks.. i have mine in the muscles in bum cheek so that it releases slowly around the body.. It has helped me alot and i notice the effects when it wears off..
Hopefully someone is familar with it in the sternum so to tell you if it is painful or not.. It will prob hurt at first but in the long run it might benefit you..xxxTracyxx0 -
Hi Val
l thought the resctrictions were more about how frequently not how many you can have which could mean the sooner the better!!! l would be scared too to have one in my sternum :???:
If you do decide to brave it l will come and hold your hand if it helps
Hope someone can help you soon who has actually had it done.
Love

At my hospital they prefer to administer steroids about every three months minimum, though they do move those goal posts if things demand it. I have had injections into my knees and ankles and the depo in the backside a few times but none of them made any noticeable difference, and certainly not for three months. An ex-parent of mine is a dentist with RA-affected hands: her injections give her six months of continuous relief and allow her to keep working. Must be nice when they work that well. Ho-hum.
I wish you well, valval, only you can decide what is right for you and as for Mr V well, he ain't the one having them, right? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
I have had injections into shoulder and hip, they didnt hurt as much as I thought they would at all. However, he just kind of did it there and then, so I didnt have time to worry. They helped and I am glad I had them.
The sternum, hmm, I would be nervous about that. However, I have had pain there and it isnt pleasant. It has to be your decision, and I hope you can manage to mull it over and come to a conclusion that is right for you.

I've had 3 directly into finger joints.......definitely the most painful thing I've ever experienced.....I even let out a big girlie scream!

Valval, i have Depo injections every 3 months or so into my thigh that are not pleasant but i wouldn't say they were horrible (but that is just me). i have also had an injection into a bursa that didn't really work for me but the depo's do work for a few weeks and to be honest for me that is worth it.
Hubby had a steriod injection in the heal of his foot he was expecting it to be really bad as the gp had said to bring someone with him to drive and he said in the end it wasn't painful at all.
So i think we are all different and so are the types of steriod injection the decision can only be yours and i an sure you OH would not be suggesting the person having the injection was a wus it is was him having it..

Doesn't sound like the nicest place to have one hun. Mine in the knees did smart a tad, they said that was the steroids pushing against scar tissue.
I do hope that if you have it done that any pain is short lived and the benefits turn out to be worth it.
I'll now recite the old AC mantra....
"We are all different"
Lol
Best of luck whatever you decide hun.
