Yes, I have in the prep room before surgery, they put the needle in and woosh out it came. I was surprised at the height it hit actually, and felt sorry for the nurse preparing me.

Lynn that must have been quite a surprise turning round and wondered who had been in with the slasher kit...

I haven't had it with Bloods but at the last Steriod Jab the burse took the needle out and what looked like 1/2 of the white stuff formed and orderly queue in my leg and squirted in a neat little fountain all over the carpet, and me well i was sitting there thinking give it back that is my injection being wasted there. (i suppose it wasn't surprised that this one didn't work as well as usual)

Ooooooh collywobble! What a surprise for both of you - and also, perhaps, some shock thrown in for you for good measure. You poor thing, I am so sorry. That hasn't happened to me yet in all the years I have been going for bloods but I guess there could always be a first time. I hope you are feeling OK. DD

    Hi Lynn,

Generous to a fault that’s your trouble.

I like them to work for every drop of my blood.

Seriously Lynn that must have been very scary for you. I hope you are feeling more relaxed today and hopefully it was a one off but I expect you will be glad to get the next one out of the way before you can feel more confident.

    Hugs,

I'm like skezier - don't part with it easily. In fact, after all these years of regular bloods my veins tend to burrow deep whenever I enter the phlebotamist's room.

Once it's taken, however, it's a different matter. I was once chatting to a friend afterwards in the surgery when I thought my arm felt a bit damp. I ignored it until I could see there was a large, spreading damp patch on my navy fleece. Took it off. Clamped arm. Being thoroughly English stood patiently in reception queue bleeding onto carpet. Bored receptionist looks up, does double take, shoots round then presses on offending bit while frogmarching me into nurse.

    Best entertainment surgery's ever had.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

That happened to me once when I had to go to A&E at 3am and saw a junior doctor who was obviously not very adept at taking blood......spurted out all over him, me & then floor. Very Friday The 13th Pt.2!

I'm the other way totally, My veins have shrunk! They have to use baby canulars (sorry bout spelling!) It has taken in the past upto 6 doctors to get a vein! (that happened in hospital!) It is so embarassing I have to warn the nurses at the doctors if they are new and they laugh. The face changes when they try.
