HI HOPE YOU ARE ALL WELL, ME AND MY DAUGHTER HAVE JUST RETURNED FROM 10 DAYS IN TURKEY WHICH WAS FAB, ON THE FRIDAY BEFORE WE WENT THE HOSPITAL RANG WITH SOME RESULTS AFTER MY DAUGHTERS RECENT APPOINTMENT FOR THOSE WHO DONT KNOW SHE IS 24 AND HAS RA, THE NURSE EXPLAINED THAT ON THE X RAY THERE HAD BEEN SOME DETERIATION IN HER FEET BUT IT LOOKED LIKE OSTEO ARTHRITIS ? WHILST ON HOLIDAY I GOT MORE OF AN INSIGHT TO HOW MUCH PAIN SHE IS IN THE FLOORS ARE TILED SHE FOUND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO WALK ON AND SHUFFLED ABOUT LIKE SHE WAS 50 YEARS OLDER, ANY ACTIVITY SHE TRIED TO DO HER WRIST CAME UP LIKE A FOOTBALL, GOING BACK TO THE NURSE CALL SHE FULLY ADMITTED THAT THE TREATMENT CLARE IS RECEIVING IS NOT WORKING. I HAVE SPOKE TO OUR DOCTOR TODAY AND SHE HAS ADVISED TO WRITE TO THE HOSPITAL SHE WONDERS NOW IF IT IS INFLAMMATORY ARTHRITIS. WE JUST DONT NO WHAT TO DO FOR THE BEST, WILL SHE END UP IN A WHEEL CHAIR BEFORE ANYBODY DOES ANYTHING, SO ANY ADVISE AS TO WHAT TO DO WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
PS SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS I ONLY REALISED HALFWAY THROUGH AND DIDNT ANT TO RETYPE

Oh dear, doesn't sound like you had that good a time on your hols, arthur has a knack of messing holidays up like that...
Think I'd just get to see the rheumy as soon as possible.. Obviously something needs sorting regarding her treatment.
Best of luck, let us know how things go eh?
Sorry I'm not of much use as far as advice goes.

It cannot be easy seeing your child suffer. I don't know how I would cope if it was my daughter, knowing first hand what it is/can be like..
Do you also suffer? Sorry if we've spoken before and I should already know, I'm rather useless when it comes to remembering ANYTHING at all, lol...

Im so glad you had a good holiday, but sorry you have had to see your daughter going through this, when its your children it must be so much worse than going through it yourself, so I do understand some of what you are going through.
It really hard getting a proper diagnosis, I am sorry I cant help with any advice,
Hopefully she will get an appointment very soon, and when she does make sure you write everything she is going through, and dont come out till you are clear has to what the treatment will be.
Sending you lots of hugs to both of you (((((()))))
Please let us know how she get on.Love

Oh dear, kmr, I am so, so sorry. RA is an inflammatory arthritis but it is possible to have that and OA too. I am glad the hospital can see her tomorrow, let's hope they can shed some light on matters. Didn't your girl start methotrexate recently? Am I thinking of the right daughter? Please let us know how you get on, if you can. I wish you both well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi KMR, I read about your holiday and understand what your daughter went through, I blow up like a balloon on hols. It's another symptom of Arthur. I use my wheelchair on holiday as I know I wouldn't beable to walk especially with the swelling. Does your daughter have a wheelchair ? Maybe something to think about even it is only used while on holiday, but from the sound of it I expect she is suffering from the swelling at home as well.0

I don't know how long your daughter has been diagnosed with R.A but I know it took me many years on different or increasing medication to get on top of it.I thought my future would end in a wheelchair but thankfully it hasn't and I have improved. I think she is suffering so much because she hasn't yet found the best medication for her arthritis.
I do have OA in my left foot and that will require an op eventually and it is a crippling pain some days but on others it is okay.
Lets hope they find the best treatment for her very soon KMR.

Hi KMR..
I too have inflammatory arthritis and OA.. i have been diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis as i have no rf factor showing up in blood but symptoms and bone scan showed different..
I suffer with alot of pain with my swelling , i am now on hydroxychloroquine and a steroid injection which has helped me in regards to pain and swelling..
Hopefully your daughter is able to speak to doctor today and get a better care plan in process.. it could take a while to find the right meds to feel any benefits..
Hope today goes well.. let us know how she gets on...xxTracyxx0 -
Oh KMR
this brought tears to MY eyes what must it be doing to you???
I am hoping with all my heart that you come back later with some good news for her.
Love and HUGS

Hi kmr, I hope your daughter is feeling a little better today.
I have had RA since I was 18 and also have OA in some joints, including my foot. It feels like walking on a marble, especially without shoes on. I do get some relief from soaking my feet in a bowl of hot water with some Epsom salts - things don't work the same for everyone, but it might be worth your daughter trying that?
Also, as bubbadog mentioned, my arthritis tends to be worse abroad too, so maybe the weather affected your daughter's arthritis and made it a little worse than usual.
It takes time to find the right combination of meds, and I really hope they start to work for her soon.
Best wishes to you both,

Hi to you all THANKYOU from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderfull comments and advise, my daughter attended the hospital on friday afternoon , i spoke to the rheamy nurse thursday and explained everything and that we were not happy, she was very undersatnding and helpfull so when my daughter arrived they were aware of what had been happening she examined all her joins which were very swollen and spoke to the consultant, so am now happy to report that she will be starting embrel within a couple of weeks just hope this drug works for her and fingers crossed will make a differance to her life.
thanks again0 -
sounds silly to say this about someone being given drugs, but that's good news hun.. Hope it works well for her.
Keep us up to date eh?
