Hi all,
I'm just letting my friends on the forum know that I won't be around for a little while. I'm helping out a friend, who earlier this week was round my house extremely upset at having to return to work after having her baby last November, she wanted me originally for childminding but as I had to give up last Dec due to PA worsening she's been looking at nurseries.
She was seriously Unimpressed, she had looked at loads but not happy with them. So she has decided to hand in her notice in July (end of term, she's a teacher) and I've agreed to look after baby 3 days a week till then.
I started yesterday 7.30 - 3.30 and I'm shattered  but daft as this sounds....it feels good to be so exhausted for a reason! I'd be tired anyway working or not. Baby is lovely, and I'm happy to help my friend out, but I'll be glad when July comes!
My love to all my friends  and I'll be back supporting and contributing as soon as I can xxx

    Hi Tracey and Karen,
Thankyou for your lovely words of encouragement and support, much appreciated
However...im sitting up waiting for the tramadols to kick in, elbow not good, it's the one that was aspirated 3 weeks ago
I'm not sorry I said I'd help my friend though, I should have mentioned, the baby had meningitis at 3 weeks old, thankfully pulled through with no problems, but you can imagine how my friend felt...and why she couldn't find a nursery good enough.
I'm honoured to be asked, but I'm bloomin sore tonight  I'll be ok.
Take care everyone, I'll try and pop in when I can Xxx

    Hi Poppy
I missed this yesterday as well.....sorry.....you take your tramadol and anything else you have and plan something nice for yourself in August.....short break away maybe? Something to look forward to.
I was a childminder and that was pre arthur and it is tough going...I know from experience.
The annoying this is I have a lovely hubby and one time I heard a friend saying something about "your wife working"..."No she doesnt work" well......I exploded afte the friend had gone. {I was an avon rep at the time as well} but no I didnt work.

Men. They don't class things like Avon or housework as 'work'.

You take care poppy, and promise me that if it should become too much for you you will gracefully let your friend down. Your health has to come first - I know it is only about six weeks to the end of term but six weeks can be a helluva long time. Look after yourself as well as the babe, please. DD

Poppy, you know you'll be much missed here but, hey, all things being equal, you're better off in the 'real' world.

I do worry about that arm of yours though. A 7-8 month old is a heavy proposition - just before they start gaining any independence and therefore getting easier to handle. And they're perfectly happy to put all their weight on your weakest bits. Please do what you can however you can and don't worry about text book guidelines.

I do hope you enjoy the experience but please have a plan B in your head.

    Oh wow,
I'm so humbled to have such lovely replies, thankyou, all of you
I finished at 3.30 and had my rheumatology appt at 4pm not with my usual consultant but one that I have met before and is very nice and sympathetic. The good news is my lung is now healed :grin: I'm back on methotrexate tonight and my consultant is applying for funding for either enbrel or golimumab? Never heard of it, has anyone else? Also been put on amitriptyline to help with the rib pain at night, I'm glad about that, long term use of temazepam is not a good idea
Well, I'm extremeley sore and shattered, but still happy to have helped my friend out, baby Florence is a sweetie, she's at the copying facial expressions stage, bless her.
Take care all love as always Xxx

    Hello Poppy

So glad you got on well at the rheumy and can now start to get back on onto the meds. Hope the wait for funding is not too long. I have heard of Golimumab - was only approved by NICE very recently I think, so is one of the very newest biologics. Hope the amytrip is helpful with the night pain. I took Temazepam for about a year (too long I think) and have recently weaned myself off but it certainly didn't help me to sleep through any pain so I reckon that the amytrip will be better for you. Hope so.

I think it's lovely that you are looking after Florence for your friend. She does sound like an absolute sweetie but no wonder you are shattered! Hopefully you can have a restful weekend.

    Thinking of you Poppy,

    Lots love Tilly xxx

    Hi Tilly,
Thanks for your reply, I'm a bit groggy this morning with the amytriptyline, I didn't feel like this with the temazepam though, bit worried about working if feeling like this, perhaps I should stick with the temazepam till July, when I finish work.
So glad to be back on methotrexate! Never thought I'd say that  and the elbow is settling down thanks to the depo shot
So all in all not a bad first week, I'm so grateful for all your support though
Thanks again  love and hugs ((())) x

    Hi Poppy
I do know what you mean by being exhausted but happy, I am like that with my grandchildren, its a different kind of tiredness.
I hope you carry on enjoying it, I bet you feel really good.
    Take care.
    Love
