Hi everyone,

Is it just me but it seems that nowadays there is nothing really worth watching on the telly. It seems to be all repeats, really old ones, or rubbish ones. Certainly makes you wonder where the money goes that we pay out on our licenses doesn't it.

I think nowaday's I spend so much time on my computer now. What do you all do, watch the telly or you have another hobby?

I tend to watch Corrie, EE and The Apprentice religiously... but not much else. I prefer reading, coming on here or on FB and watching DVD compilations of my favourite TV shows. I'm working my way through Goodnight Sweetheart at the moment. I'm dying to start on Red Dwarf :D

What do you like on TV? I agree, it's slim pickings these days. Apart from the Apprentice, I'm not one for reality shows or "talent" contests

    Hi Karen
Me and hubby think the same, he is a avid reader so it dosnt really bother him, the repeats drive me mad, I find if I go through all the channels I sometimes come across documentaries that I didnt realise were on, but thats it really....I do love corrie and emmerdale...and this morning I love saturday kitchen...but they will repeat that soon.
    Love

I agree TV listings are rubbish, I dont watch any of the soaps ever, and things like midsummer murder drive me insane. I tend to watch sport, documetaries, gardening and comedy but even some of these are repeats. As I live alone I have the tv on for company --- it stops me talking to myself, but, having thought about that I think I would get more sense sometimes if I just talked to myself!

Telly cannot be expected to be all things to all people. Much of it is now puerile drivel but that seems to be what the majority like so that is what we get. Mr DD and I watch drama - The Shadowline is absorbing, we like Wallender, got really engrossed in The Killing, Spiral was OK. We like documentaries - BBC4 is a wonderful source of proper, educative television and that alone is worth the licence fee. Channel 4 used to have some good stuff (only The Simpsons is worth a butchers now) and Five is great for pure escapist TV such as The Mentalist and more serious drama such as Law and Order.

I do wonder why people moan about the licence fee (it's what, about £145 a year now?) I think that Sky subscriptions cost a huge amount more for an awful lot less. There is a finite amount of material for an infinite amount of broadcasting space. DD

Heck! I think there is some wonderful telly! Some of the documentaries are great, love the bio channel, the bodyinbalance channel, yes, I like my soaps and I think it is great having lots of different news channels.

Yep, I do have Sky and record everything I like so I can zoom away from adverts and if I just had council telly I would likely hardly ever have the box on.

One of the latest programmes I'm liking is Gold Rush about a crowd of pals who are out of jobs, some have lost their homes etc and instead of moaning they got off their backsides, leased some land, built their own gold hunting equipment and are going for it gold!

I also like the fact that I can listen to lots of radio channels as my so called digital radio picks up zilch.
