Hi all,
I got a letter last week from the wonderful DWP.... They are sending out a doctor to conduct a home visit, not sure what to make of this. Anybody else had a ATOS Doctor home visit?
Its all to do with the fact they used the ATOS report for my ESA to help them decided if I could have DLA, but now they have over rulled the decision not to give me ESA, it means the report isnt very credible.... Im sick of all this agro......

Is the Doc coming for DLA assessment? I have had one of those and failed cos I could touch the floor but I appealed and won DLA in the end.It was a good day and I'm not always that able which they have to take into consideration. Just let the Doc see how bad you are Mark and don't push yourself, just say I cannot do that, I will fall, this hurts etc.
Sorry you are having to go through so much aggro. It is the last thing you need.
Good luck,

Hi, Something like that, which you are not expecting makes your imagination run wild, well it does mine! I would think they are visiting you, as they think you are not well enough to go to them. Also, they may want to see how you manage. Don't go offering cups of tea or getting the house looking so neat and tidy you could eat off the floor!!!
As someone said let them see you as you really are and what you really can't do. Things like the pile of ironing I've got in the kitchen because I can't keep up and all sorts of little things like the dishwasher not full as I can't bend too well.
I think we all like to appear at our best when someone new comes into our house, but grit your teeth and don't get someone to help you tidy up! Good luck, love Sue0 -
Thanks Elizabeth, Sue.
Thankfully my wife is going to be there aswell (she is only working part time at the moment) The house looks like a bomb site! I hate having people in the house when its a mess, hence why i never have visitors lol Im just not able to do much around the house. I will resist the temptation to try and clean up!
Must admit Iam a little worried about the visit as I have had it rough at the hands of ATOS medical staff (making things up about my fitness, and putting it in a report)
Elizabeth - yes its for DLA
will let you all know what happens!

Hi, having problems doing housework and the effect this has on your social life is important for the Atos doc to see. When I had my medical at the centre they commented on the fact that I was 'Smartly dressed with make up on'. They didn't comment on the fact that my clothes had no buttons and the jumper pulled over my head, or that my feet didn't have socks on as its too dificult some days. They didn't ask about the makeup either. Thats my line in the sand, whatever I do I try to put a simple bit of make up on, its a pschological thing. Sorr the go on, these people get under my skin!

Hi mark
Sue is right - the lack of ability to do housework is relevant and you wife will be tied up working and trying to help you.
They will be loooking for signs that a person who has a disability lives at your house.
Walking aids being one example.
Can l wish you all the best
Love
