Hi All
we went for an indian meal saturday night with friends, and im so cheesed off....
i have had shaky hands of late for sometime, but saturday night was awful... i managed to keep spilling food off my fork... had to keep putting the fork down and chat away not sure if they noticed but i dropped food down my top several times, was kindof hidden so i know it was there but as its yellow saucy rice it will have stained my top, this shaking is getting worse of late, anyone know what it could be?

havent changed medications in ages, its getting a bit dangerous as the hot cups of tea are getting sloppy especially when moving my hand over my laptop
i noticed the shaking more in my left arm but at the weekend i saw it really is both arms/hands, lots of times i just put down to muscle wasting but im getting fed up now
love and hugs

    Morning liesa

I can not help with your problem other than to mention it to your doctor or rhummy consultants. I can imagine how embarrassed you will feel when eating with your friends. My hands dont shake but I can not hold cutlery properly and will only eat food i can stab with a fork (when out).

I hope you get this problem sorted.
    Take care

I have no idea what it is, Liesa, we are not doctors so it is probably best to go and see yours. Have you read through the leaflets that come with your drugs? If shaking is mentioned then that will give you some idea of what is happening. I hope you can sort this out. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

I'd definitely get this checked out with your GP and, if it's a real problem, sooner than 2 weeks. It might be something to do with either the arthritis or the meds but equally it might not. Like Julie I have problems with weak and uncooperative hands but not shaky ones.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

im ok so far thanks Tracy, stiff and tireddue to the amytriptiline, but did manage to sleep all night so that has me feeling really really happy,
    hope your well?

i said drs in 2 weeks as the dr wanted to see me a month after increasing the amytriptiline dose, and trying to get an appointment at my drs surgery is awful....

    how are you Tracy?

shaking hands just something else to chuck at us.... im thinking its really something to do with amytriptiline as i have googled it and it can cause muscle tremors... interesting...

have a good day all xx

Hi to a fellow Brightonian , sorry you're having this problem . I don't shake but due to elegant claw hands , can't grip ! I use my own cutlery and take it with me when eating out , usually using a spoon for most meals . I can understand how fed up you feel with it all and guess it's easier for me as I'm an old biddy now at 55 and after 30 odd years of RA ; people accept me as I am or not at all ! Jillyb

Hi, Sorry your night was spoiled by shaky hands. You're right to mention it to your doc the next time you see him as someone else said it could be caused by loads of things.

Also, I don't know if you'r the same as me, but if something like that starts and I'm in 'public', it seems to get worse as I'm so tense. Mine is carrying a full cup or glass even just from the table to my mouth! Hope your doctor can sort it out for you. Love Sue

Hi, I suffer from this and have for ages, it doesn't seem to be down to a med. My gp said it was muscle weakness, and referred mt to physio. I am still waiting to be seen!!

I find the dropping food etc to be a real nuisance, will be interested to see what your doc says.

    Hiya

So i mentioned it to my GP who kinda brushed past it, so i brought it up again before i left

He said it could be down to the weak joints and/or muscle wasting, because the joints are weak.

Overall not much they could do, as physio hasn't been anything but painful for me... so i guess just another think to live with!

Already had to give up sooo much, hubby is buying me a tv tray/table so i can put the fork down and not hold the plate while eating (we dont have a dining table).

Sorry i couldnt be much more help Liesa

    mmmmm

    very interesting isn't it?

I have been on amitrip for years with no tremors...

mind you i did have a friend who had tremors on no meds at all...apparently called an essential tremor l think.

    Good luck

    Love

    Toni xx
