No womb for error

There is a rather strange lady on the news at the minute who wants to give her womb to get daughter, her daughter was born without one...
Why....??
I'm sorry but it just seems a bit weird, she'd be having her own grandchild in some weird way... Lol
I do feel for people who can't have kids for whatever reason, but I just don't think doing things like this is right. They never said who would be paying for this bizarre op. When asked if it wouldn't be easier for the lady to just be a surrogate for her daughter she said
"I could never do that, it would be too weird" :???:
There are so many children waiting to be adopted, surely that could be a consideration before a highly risky op like this.... It had only been done once in the past apparently back in 2000 and the transplanted womb had to be removed within three months.
I'm sorry but I don't think it should be done.
Just my opinion, what would I know.. Lol
what think ye?

Realise this may upset a few people and apologies in advance ; but can't help feeling that if you're not meant to have children ; then , don't ! Some of the treatments just seem too weird and unnatural I'm afraid . Sorry to anyone I've offended . Jillyb0

Nature has ways and means of controlling populations. Infertility is a fact of life, not an illness, but now it is regarded as such and doctors can 'cure' it. Disease is a control, now we cure them or stop them. Just because one can does not mean one should. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I'm with you guys on this, it's the old I want a baby it's my right so the NHS can cough up for risky surgery, and anyway if it all goes wrong I can get damages from them for cocking it up.
There are more than enough kids in need of a home so go down that route first and last our hospitals are to busy saving money for this kind of designer womb crap.
I did see the Pratchett program about Dignitass however and that was a more useful aplication of medicine, it's illegal just like weed so I'll probably get binned for mentioning an illegal thingy but I think we all should have the right to clock out when we want if we've had enough of this life, after all it's my body not anyone elses, no one has the right to make another person suffer because it's the law if you do you have no compasion and are basically endorsing suffering of another human being, sometimes the law is just totally outdated stupid and wrong.0 -
With you on that one too Mell, it is against the law to let a dog suffer, but yet it is the law in a way to ALLOW us people to suffer  How's that make sense :???:Me-Tony

Do you remember Gordon Brown's rather odd plea for five words to sum up the UK of the day? Some wag came up with asbo, bingo, dipso, giro, tesco. That still makes me larf - but it is NOT representative of our country. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

We do sort of have our own Grandchildren as mothers of girls as they have all their eggs inside THEM while they are inside us.

I think I'll join Barbara on the fence with this one but I suspect the people who disagree with the posts on this thread are staying away.
However, we are all entitled to a voice and our own opinion so I have a few thoughts on this subject...
This kind of reminds me of a debate a few years ago when the powers that be were thinking of charging smokers for hospital treatment because, in effect, they had brought their illnesses on themselves. Aside from the smokers paying taxes through their earnings, they paid through the ciggies that were making them ill for the hospitals that were making them better! On a similar wave of thinking, I remember saying, are we going to start charging obese people for their treatment too? Especially if they're overweight through overeating and no other medical condition?
Following on from this, if we say that people who can't have children "shouldn't be allowed" to have children (sorry, can't think of a nicer way to say it) because that's the way they were built - where does this end? Will we start saying to parents of babies born with heart defects "Sorry, the baby was born without that bit of the heart, so we can't put one in?"
I'm similarly confused with the euthanasia aspect of this thread. I do think on one hand people should be able to choose if they live or die, we put down animals to stop their suffering yet suicide and euthanasia is illegal. in this country. I've seen documentaries of people trapped inside their own bodies who say they're no quality of life and want to end it because they don't feel they are "living". However, how can we tell they are of "sound mind" to make these decisions? Have any of us ever been in the position where we're so ill we could happily end it all? If so, isn't that a sign of depression - a sign of someone who isn't thinking as they normally would if they were well? We all know how being in pain and ill constantly affects every aspect of our lives and brings us down - is this the same way we feel when we are well? So how can we be trusted to decide on our lives? Also, where will that end if we let people start making their own decisions on their lives - will families who have power of attorney for their loved ones be able to make the decision also? What about those in comas, not likely to survive? What about all those people we read about who make miraculous recoveries, having been told they have weeks left to live???
Do you follow my train of thought? I've explained it the best I can. Again, like those before me, I'm expressing opinion and I apologise in advance if I've offended anyone - if I have, then I'd appreciate a PM letting me know.

I don't think anyone said that if you cannot have children you shouldn't be allowed to. It is highly unnatural how doctors fiddle about with people now: if you are born without a womb then yes, it is technically possible to transplant one, but is having a womb essential to life? No. It's useful for passing life onto another generation but that is its limit, it is not an essential organ. There are plenty of children out there who need a home, that is your option if having children is so important to you. OK, it's not quite the same, but no-one is saying you can't have a child, all that is being said is that you can't have your own. And that for some is anathema. We live in a world where everyone has 'rights' - but surely none of us have a right to anything. Life has to be lived according to the hand one is dealt (in our cases a pretty lousy one) but we have no more right to good health than the next man. Just because some health 'conditions' can be circumvented does not mean they should be. The NHS is there to treat illness. Being without a womb is very sad for the woman concerned, I am sure, but she is not ill. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Got it spot on there Del.
I don't mind if they want a womb transplanted on top of their heads if they pay for it.
I'm gonna be doomed for saying this but, it's just my opinion.. No offence to anyone.. These sex change ops shouldn't be done on the NHS...
