Went to Dr surgery for ECG this afternoon as requested by Dr (after last weeks appointment where I was given Amitriptyine 10mg ) had ECG done on a very small hand held portable machine which seemed only to take a few minutes. (it took longer to attatch all the electrodes) she then prints result which she took to doctor (not the same one as I saw Last week) she then tells me I need to go have another one on larger better machine at the hospital when I asked why she said i think its maye not normal and he wants a better picture before appointment I have with other doctor next week. Having Read side affects of Amitrip I see that one of the more rare affects is disturbance of heart rythmns. So now wondering should I continue with Amitrip am waitig for doctor to ring me back. Am so fed up with this Sorry about the tirade but needed to let it all out.
Stay positive always👍xx

This is a worrying thing, isn't it? I am sure that all will be well - I have lost count of the number of times I get letters from the GP saying that he wants to discuss my blood test results with me and - lo and behold - there actually isn't anything wrong with them (not in my terms anyway!)
It could just be that they want the better or clearer picture/feedback from the test, they are just double-checking. You haven't been on the amytryp that long but as we all know we all vary so much in how we can tolerate meds (or not). If it were me I wouldn't stop taking it but I would ask for clarification - could your pharmacist help on this, I wonder? They are very knowledgeable people. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
thanks DD for the reassurance am waiting for a call back from Doc at moment but i'm not holding out much hope of that tonight. am also trying to get through to a nurse friend of mine for her opinion. i am going to get the ECG done tomorrow as it is a walk in session so i'll ask if anyone can give me any advise there.Stay positive always👍xx0

Hi Carol
They don't half worry you , and in itself thats not good, hopefully it is something and nothing, Im on amitriptyline and so far so good, but I suppose they don't suit everyone.
Please let us know how you get on.Love

Hi Carol,
Dont these doctors leave you feeling frustrated(sorry about the spelling)
I think as DD said it just could be that they want to double check. But wait for the doctors phonecall, propably tomorrow, and dont come off the amitripaline until you have spoken to him.
Try not to worry, and I know it is easier said than done, but you know what I mean.

Thanks Barbara will do have spoken to my friend who is a nurse and she has said that as iv'e only had the Amitriptyline for 5 days that if I'm conerned about taking it tonight then it won't hurt if I don't ,and to ask for more info at hospital tomorrow. Well doctor didn't ring back Karen didn't really expect him too. so I suppose we'll see tomorrow how things go.Stay positive always👍xx0
