Hi,I was diagnosed with ra last sept,my problem at the moment is finding footwear to fit as some days my feet are more swollen than others,i have tried sprays that are supposed to stretch shoes and wooden stretchers they do help when i have a good day.Is there any company out there that does not charge an arm and a leg to buy wide fit shoes that are fasionable but still comfortable. There are quite a few threads about this all over the forum. If you do a search on 'shoes' on LWA they should come up, there is a thread on the first page of this forum and there are two threads high up on the Young People's Forum. I swear by Crocs, they are enough for me. I don't give a damn anymore about what they look like, the comfort of my feet is much more important. My feet have flattened and widened over the years of arthritis, walking is enough of a struggle, so for winter it's trainers and walking boots (all with good arch support) and the other times of the year my colourful Crocs. There are companies out there who do wider-fitting shoes but if you are younger the styles won't necessarily appeal. Keep an eye on the small ads at the back of the tabloids, try Hotter or Fly Flot perhaps, and I hope you can find some you like. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

I hope this helps, I have the same trouble trying to find shoes to fit as I have fallen arches and feet are now really wide and need the added arch support.

    Good Luck with your search.

Cosyf**t for me ; they might not suit if you're looking for style rather than comfort though . Jillyb

Footwear is my thing - always had so many problems! I've had loads of surgery on my feet and get frustrated trying to find shoes. The thing that I've found though and I hate to say it is that I've had to accept that I have to go for comfort so if the price is high then I still try and buy them (within reason). If you want something fashionable but sensible then I've just discovered shoes by Fly London - if you look online you may find a local stockist. They have thick soles so you don't feel every little lump when you walk and have adjustable straps. I also wear Clarkes sandals with velcro straps for casual at home or you could try Fly Flot shoes. Try http://www.shoe-shop.com/ - Pavers Shoes. Pavers do have shops nationwide so it may be work checking them out.

I think if you can find a couple of good suppliers that suit then just stick with them. I've just wasted money over the years trying to buy things I want by necessarily can't have!

    Good luck :-)

I have wide feet and big feet (size 10 eep!) and the best ever place on the high street is Evans - they go up to an 11 in some sizes and do two different widths now, wide and extra wide, and have a variety of styles. I love their ballet pumps for going out, although there is no arch support in them so can only wear them a short amount of time now.

Other than that, I live in my sports trainers with added insoles for extra arch support - really helps the feet and knees. THe best trainers I've ever owned are by Nike but I managed to get them half off in the sale as they were a funny size (and looked rather feminine - the bonus of having to buy mens shoes most of the time is the feminine ones are always in the sale!).

    Hope that helps!
