....now to see if it works! I have been better chest wise for the past few weeks with a few occassions(I really must learn how to spell this word as use it so often) where my throat has locked up, but I always keep a drink with me, otherwise I panic and can't breathe.

I'm still not sure if it is asthma but will see if the inhaler helps.

Oooooh! What sort and colour? I have Pulvinal Salbutamol (blue, reliever) and Pulvinal Beclomethasone (brown, preventer). I cannot take the liquid ones such as Ventolin as I cough them straight back up, so it's the powder-filled ones for me. I hope you feel the benefit soon, tkachev. DD

    Hi elizabeth

Hope the inhaler helps, and your breathing gets better. (sorry can't say much else as I have no experience of them)

    Take care

The inhaler I have been given is Ventolin, evohaler. On the other side it says salbutamol. I'm rubbish at inhaling but hope I will get better with practice. It is a teal colour, shake and press.
I had my first 'puffs' yesterday and then had some sardines on toast and my tongue was burning so thought it was the inhaler.Turns out the sardines were in a hot pepper sauce!
It is terrifying when I can't breath. I'm not yet sure if this is the answer. I just feel it is more likely to be an infection due to our dodgy immune systems but I am willing to give it a go.
Overall I am happy and well

Thank you for your best wishes

That's the reliever type and yes, it will become easier with practice. Oh and occasion? Double C, one S. You need the harder /zhun/ sound that the single S gives, double S gives the softer /shn/ (say occasion and passion and you should hear the difference). DD

PS Forgot to say I hope it helps! Remember to hold your breath for as long as you can after inhalation, that helps the stuff to stay in your lungs and not be immediately breathed out. Actors on the telly always get it wrong.

Hope it helps, Elizabeth. I know mine do although I only need a very low dose.

Brilliant DD. I shan't forget that. Thank you SW, I hope it helps too. It is early days at the moment so I cannot judge if it is helping. I know my poor Charlotte had asthma from 6 years of age and she had a terrible time and I had to call the GP out on several occasions(:grin:) to use a ventilator.

I am sorry to hear about Charlotte (they didn't have those things in my bad asthma days, it was hospital and an O2 tent! Everyone was very blurred thro the plastic) but I am very pleased you got 'occasions' right! (That group includes persuasion and dis-suasion) DD

Hope youre getting knack of inhaler. If youre having trouble the asthma uk website has pictures how to do it etc...also there are different inhalers which have different techniques. My daughter had one not that long ago as she had a cough that wouldnt go. I asked why she was given the inhaler in a circular container and not one of the others and was told the device is one of the easier ones to operate if you havent done it before.
The inhaler she had did the trick so hope yours works soon...not been on site much so bit behind with how peeps are all doing. take care
