Hi
Was on here about mate that i find it really hard with....Havent texted her as she is so reclusive that she makes Howard Hughes seem like a socialite!
Anyhow, gets a text last night and asked what id done at weekend....She then turned it into an "all about me" text session...Turns out she went drinking in cheltenham with a male friend of hers who she hasnt seen for over a year....I had to look at text twice when said she had a hangover on sunday...I have tried on numerous occasions to get her to loosen up a bit but she has stuck to water so it actually annoyed me she did this....She said she hadnt had a brilliant week at work which i can sympathise with to a certain extent but instead of feeling sorry for her I thought "well if you let your hair down and voiced an opinion every now and then life would be so much easier"......I dont wanna sound like a rotten bugger but it is self inflicted and i got enough going on without moaning minnie...GRR!

Hi Elaine
She sounds insecure and attention-seeking to me? That's just from what you've put on here and on another post somewhere (I forget which one).
Have you considered the possibility she might be making it all up to sound more interesting?
Unfortunately, people like this need lots of support and attention. You need to ask yourself, honestly, if you can be that kind of a friend to her. If not, then I know it sounds harsh, but you have to take a step back from her - maybe she'll find what she needs in someone else.

Hi Nina
I think you could be right in the attention seeking sense. I mean she says she doesnt makes friends easily but ex colleagues have moved near her, Kenilworth and she still makes zero effort to keeep in touch, she expects everything to come to her and that doesnt happen...
I really think i need to keep it polite but im afraid the text of her drinking made me just press DELETE.....I mean she is as likely to drink as Billy Connolly is likely to give up swearing!!?? I got enough on my plate, she will get message sooner or later....Ive done what i can....

Blimey Elaine, I was in Cheltenham at weekend. I hope she wasn't the woman draped all over my boyfriend(no joke).

Hi Elizabeth
No she definitely wasnt!! she is gay and if you saw her you would think she was 17, she dresses in clothes that fit a 19year old boy!!! And if she had been that girl id have told her off very severely!!

Hi Elaine,
I think what Nina said makes a lot of sense. Your friend asked you what you had done at the weekend(and you had a good time out walking/chatting with another friend) so maybe she felt peeved and left out. As you say she doesn't make friends easily maybe she felt the need to let you know she had been out and about and had made an effort, even if for one night. Its just that she doesn't have the correct way of letting you know but that could be due to her social issues(sorry but with 2 autistic sons I do see how difficult they find it to act like others, and to know acceptable behaviour as it doesn't come naturally). I just feel for people who struggle with social issues.
I stilll think you should be there for her. She sounds sad and lonely to me.
