Hi all
It's been 12 days since my op.Today have been back to hospital.

Started off with them removing my back-slab (such bliss!) and then stitches, about 12 of them (ouch!) and the dressing.Replaced dressing and replastered the leg.During this time the surgeon popped in and had a quick look and was pleased with the healing.

Next was sent to X-ray.Back to the consultant/surgeon he was satisfied with the results (had a look at the X-ray myself and could see the new joint!!).Can now fully weight bear, but take it gently.Still continue to elevate the leg when sitting or in bed.

Next appointment is for about 4 weeks when he expects to remove the plaster for good............................:grin::lol:

    Hi Ron
That is such good news, talk about time flying, you really have done well...what a difference it must be having all those stitches out...and weight bearing  gosh that is brilliant...long may it continue..

    Hi Anita
Nice to hear from you again. My cast is a permanent one, this appears to the preference of my surgeon!
Had a choice of colour,so choose 'grass' green (though to my trained eye it appears to be suffering slight iron deficiency!).

Just catching up with things and wanted to wish Annette a good appointment for tomorrow.

Great news that you are progressing onto the next stage of recovery.
Good luck with the gradual weight bearing exercises.

Hi Ron, Yeah I will, trouble is I have to wait until 31st Aug to decide!! Not sure why but I think because I kinda said "oh I can put up with it" (as you do) he said okay then take 3 months to decide whether it has got worse and you want it done!! I may see if it I can get it done sooner if the pain keeps up.No doubt when I ring him there will be a wait for an appointment!
    Take care,
    Anita.

    Hi Ron,

Glad things are going well. I was very happy to get the back slab removed as well. How long is the cast to stay on for now?

    Hi Rob
Great to see you on here again, how are you doing now?The op must now seem history.
The consultant wants to see me 4 weeks after I had the cast put on.Says it may then be removed, depending on the results of the X-ray.Am now weight bearing, with the aid of crutches.

Not doing too banly at all, The aircast boot should come off on the 28th, I am scooting around the house and up stairs with no crutches and no real pain (there is just a touch but I suppose I'll be feeling that for some time yet)
    Good luck for your appt.
