You could have twisted it in the night perhaps, or unsettled it somehow. Keep off it today as much as you can, and if it doesn't settle or ease then get in touch with your GP - would they do a home visit for you? DD

I agree with DD that you may have twisted it in bed. I do all sorts to my joints in bed - a very dangerous place as far as I'm concerned.

If the combined problems are making you unsteady on your feet I think maybe you need to see the doc. I've always found unsteadiness plus DF118s to be a hazardous combination.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

 HI Thanks for your support, well that was a lenghthy visit at surgery , doc thinks oa and maybe a twist while at rest is causing this pain and swelling although he does not rule out RA  have pain killers and a tight bandage on and to rest, just as conserning was a now nasty kidney infection not related to OA so anti biotics too ,so pretty unwell ,should get better though. i am to have some x rays asap of knee as oa in hand did once before indicate possible ra. tc all

Oh dear, poor you. I hope things improve soon and that you can get the Xray done sooner rather than later. Let us know the outcome, if you can. I wish you well. DD

You've merely have the same problem as what my brother had before. He just consulted a doctor and examine some parts of her body. Luckily, they don't see anything wrong. The doctor just prescribed her a Vitamin B Supplement(MX Calcium Complex). And it's work for my bro thank god! I would suggest you to consult a doctor first before trying any action. : )

    Hi Paul..

Sorry to hear you are not well at the moment..
I hope the antibiotics kick in and start working soon, you may feel a bit better.
As DD mentioned it could be due to the way you lay or it could be arthur, lets hope it's just a twist of the knee..It's good the doctor is checking it out though..sooner rather than later is always good..
When my knee plays up bad, i apply cold compress to reduce the swelling, and i place a cushion underneath my knee when elevated..If possible do gentle knee movements just so the joint doesn't get stiff...
Hope you feel better soon, keep us posted on how you are getting on..

    Hi
Glad you saw the doc and that you had a long appointment with him.
    Sounds a good appointment.
Hope you get the x ray soon.
I found that deep freeze {as opposed to deep heat  } worked on my knee.

Mm. Bit of a mixed bag for you there, Paulch. Just as well you went though if you needed antibiotics.

I'm just a bit concerned about that tight bandage. How tight? I'm pretty sure you shouldn't leave it on for too long. Or overnight. What did the doc say about it?

I have OA and when I had a similiar problem to you recently with my knee I went into the chemists and asked for their advice re wearing an elastic bandage but was told by the chemist that I could do more harm than good so not to put one on till I had spoken to the doctor....when I did see the doctor he didn't recommend a bandage but told me to increase my painkillers.
I don't know if that is any help to you or not.

    8) Hi Thanks for ypour support, the doc said to try a bandage only if i have to move around but to rest completly since it has gon off a bit but clmbing the staires is very bad as my left stroke side does nort assist  i cannot take anti flamatry pills as they react with other meds i take, but have found that Algesal helps, i see i not the only one on here with knee probs at the moment . tc all
