Hi everyone,
The GP came to see me today from ATOS. He reasured me firstly he was a GP, I got the impression he still worked as a GP but ATOS would refer people to him.
ATOS had told him very little about my condition, he knew I had arthritis, but I had to explain I had three forms of it, he made lots of notes he checked my joints, heart rate, reflex etc. I explained that I had failed at tribunal and had to reapply. He said the problem with the system was they looked at dates making sure these matched, and a rigid criteria etc and they didnt look at the patient as an individual, with individual needs.
The GP also knew my rheumatologist, he said that my rheummy was an international figure in Arthritis, and he had a lot of weight behind him. So I felt more positive. (It also explains why my rheummy is testing a new method of knee asperation.)
I actually feel much more positive of winning the DLA battle. It was nice to have an ATOS reprasentative that actually seemed to care and have some understanding of what it was like, and what we have to face on a daily basis.
Will let you all know the outcome.
Mark

Hi Mark,
Im pleased you feel you Dr assessment went well.
I had My Dr assessment a couple of weeks ago. It also went well i felt and the Dr was nice and chatted to me.
I got turned down and so am appealing. I got Dr report yesterday and i was knocked for six. She had left out any info that would make it seem as though i struggled.
On the day she was caring enough and i felt she had really listened and understood.
She says in her report there is so reason for me not to work and that all i need is councelling and weight loss. It was heartless and i felt like i was a number not a person.
I am now going to tribunal to dispute her report,
I do hope your Dr finds in your favour, i just wanted to make you aware that not everything is as it seems.
I wouldnt want any one to feel how i did Yesterday when i got report.
My Gp spinal surgeon and other health profesionals had all writted what i would say is correct and how I am.
Good luck and im keeping my fingers Xd for you,
All the best

I have heared of 'nice docs' writing bad reports before, gaining your confidence first and then making inaccurite statements. Let us hope your Doc was genuine and understood how arthritis is impacting on your life. I can only wish you well Mark with your never ending claim.
Let us know when you get the news,
