First I want to thank each and every one of you for your good wishes and pocket duty-it's the first time I've had people on pocket duty and it does help enormously.
Right, the consultant was lovely, had a really good natter to him.
Had x-rays done again which showed that the hip re-surface I had done in 2007 had been put in at the wrong angle!!!!!! No wonder it's been bloomin painful.
Had bloods to see how much metal has been absorbed and got to go for an ultrasound to see how much soft tissue damage/inflammation there is.
Then it's a total new hip replacement.
The waiting time is usually 6 months but the consultant is going to try and do it sooner to prevent any more damage.
I feel very relieved now I know what's wrong, had expected a new hip but now I've met the consultant feel confident it will all be ok.
I'll worry about what I am going to do with hubby nearer the time.
The recovery is a bit longer, 6 weeks on crutches and no driving but it will be worth it in the long run.
Feel surprisingly upbeat now......
Thank you all again
Take care
xx

Blasted surgeons. Was the table at the wrong angle or summat when he 'did' you? How the hell can he put summat in at the wrong angle? Don't these things come with exploded diagrams etc? At least you know that there is a definite reason for the trouble you have been having and I hope he can get summat done sooner rather than later. As for your husband, I am sure that something can be done to help you on that front. If you start voicing your concerns about him now to the relevant authorities perhaps plans can be put in place to give you some peace of mind. DD

    Hi daylilly

I am pleased that the problem has been solved, but, sorry that it means you have to go through surgery again. I hope you are not waiting too long. It is also nice to know that you are now feeling much happier.
    Take care

    Hi Daylily,
Wow that was an eye opener, I am so sorry that it has taken all this time to discover what was so wrong. I do hope that he does what he said and gets you a date very quickly.
You are right it is a relief to find out what has been causing all the pain but it is heartbreaking that you have been left with so much damage.
Fingers crossed that things will improve for you and you’re OH soon and you are still on track for the big move.

Hello ironic, We are still awaiting a social worker calling (8 weeks and counting) as we cannot get in the flats without their referral.
It's been complicated because the flats are usually for the over 65's and the social worker there is apparently not geared up for under 65's. Why age makes a difference I have no idea.
Thank you for thinking of us
    take care
