Hi....Sorry just back now.....well back and had something to eat first.
Well the orthopaedic surgeon has deferred the THR for at least 6 months.
He wants me completely fit before doing it HA!!!!! Some Chance!!!!
Anyway.....he said "You have seen the lovely Mr Sanderson".....I said well I've seen Mr Sanderson  He said....he
he's straight and tells it as it is {sorry he's the back specialist}...he then looked at the notes and said i see you were referred for physio and have been given a plan to follow.......NOPE :???: she saw me 3 times then said it wasnt working......he picked up his dictaphone and said I'm going to dictate a message to Kristan Mote.....he'll sort it out.. Well Kris is the one I'm seeing for my acupuncture and I have a lot of faith in him and told Mr Assad that......so he dictated a message to him saying that he would like Kris to do physio on me as well as the acupuncture....even if it was the 3 months in between my acupunture sessions.
He then said I'm going to dictate a letter to your doctor and tell him I want you on amitryptilne {spelling} and ask him if he would refer you to a pain clinic {apparently he cant refer me...something to do with money}
That is it....next thing is an appointment in 6 months with him
Sorry for the ramble
Thanks everyone for your support

Love
Hileena

    Hi Hileena
Talk about a mixed appointment, thank goodness for the man Chris I think you said, that will be doing your physio, at least you know and trust him.
Do you know I am getting more and more scared of having my first THR after reading some of the post we have had lately.
The amitriptyline has been a big help to me at night, I really do hope that the physio works for you, and then well who knows, suppose its up to you if you have the other hip done.
    Good luck with everything.
    Love

    Hi
Thanks, for the posts.....forgot to mention when I was there today I picked up a shower stool form the OT. I dont really like a shower....much prefer a bath but its getting sorer to have a bath now so I'm going to try and use the shower....even if its only every other time
On the whole i think it was a good appointment....and the last time he saw me he said 2 new hips....this time when he deferred it for 6 months he said "if when your back is a bit better and the 6 months are up you may not need the hip replacement.....if you feel then you can cope without it for longer ....we'll leave it" basically {my words} if its not broke dont fix it...wish he had toughtthat before he did the first one :lol:

I haven't had a bath since before the turn of the century and, trust me, no-one has ever noticed the difference. Give me a shower any day of the week ( preferably all seven).

I am too tired to take it all in but I promise to answer better at some point. 6 months before the consideration of an op? Get fit? By whose standards, his or ours? This whole, stupid, dull and tiresome malarkey does irk one from time to time. DD

I am so glad that your appointment went well for you. Makes a change doesn't it. It certainly sounds that they are creating a good plan for you.

I hope you dont have to wait long before an apointment comes through for your accupunture and the phsyio.

    Karen xx

ps.Barbara, i know probably I haven't helped re having our THR with my post's, but dont worry. I think that I was just unlucky, I'm sure yours will go really well.

    Hi DD
Hope you are feeling a bit better this morning...not as grumpy or grotty
Toni.....thanks for the advice about the amitrip.....apparently he does know Kris...I suppose he would ...he's one of the senior ones in the physio dept.
    Hi Karen......
My acupuncture wont be for about another 3 months....they have to leave a gap.....NHS can only afford about 6 in one go and then a break, then I ring up and book another 6. I do have an appointment with Kris {physio} next week ...just a review to see how the last lot of acupuncture went so I'll ask him then if he has received the letter from Mr Assad {ortho}Hopefully he will be able to fit in physio soon.

    Hi Julie
He did say that although the hip was as bad as the one he replaced that if it wasnt giving me any bother by the time they had finished with my back that it may not have to be done....well not for quite a while anyway.....good news

How is your hip-in-waiting these days, Hileena? How do you feel about waiting another months?

However, your consultant sounds really good - I like it when they dictate the letter when you are there - it is open and informative. Great that you get to see more of the lovely physio. The amitryptilne seems help a lot of folks on here with sleeping (I realise now I should have asked for it when I was having such a rough time sleeping pre-op) and a pain clinic referral as well - fab!

As usual Hileena, you know how to get results!!

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Speedy
    Long time no hear!!!!
I dont mind waiting another few months.....there wasnt a date set for it.....except October last year  I'm happy that they work on my back and hopefully that will help things a bit......do you remember after my THR and for quite a while .....saying I was unbalanced.....I know...you knew that anyway :lol: Still not much different ....16 months on. I mentioned that to the ortho and asked was it because my other hip hadnt been done....Nope it is my pelvis....all to do with this kypho scoliosis??????
