Hello all,
have any of you been on an Expert Patient's Programme?
I'm booked in on one next week and just wondered what it is all about.
It runs for 6 weeks for 2 and 1/2 hours a week. Pain clinic recommended it.
Is it worth going on it?
Thanks
xx

I am most envious. I have been waiting for years to do one of these and will continue to wait as my authority does not have the required funds. The best of luck, I hope you enjoy it and find it helpful. DD

DD isn't that course you've just been on something similar?
    Challenging pain wasn't it?

I don't know if it's similar to the EPP. AC ran the Challenging Pain course, which was just two weeks in length, they also do a six week Challenging Arthritis course. I think the EPP will be different in content at least. Hopefully you will have more time than we did to talk things over and generate ideas etc. I am still envious.

    Hi
Yes thats the first course I ever did.....the OT recommended it.
Its very similar to Challenging Arthritis {not Challenging pain} 6 weeks etc
The only difference is that instead of being aimed at people with arthritis its aimed at anyone with chronic illness. {same as challenging pain except its 6 weeks}I had someone with huntingdons disease, a few with arthritis, someone with heart problems. AC say that expert patient course pinched it from them
It was very good......I hadnt found this website at the time and it was very informative. Very much worth going on...thats rubbish grammar  but I take it you get my meaning

The epp generic self management course is the single most
effective thing I have encountered in coping with my ra.
I was so impressed by it and got so much from it that I
undertook the training to become a tutor and have been
delivering the course for the last five years. I still get
loads from it every time I deliver. I am sure you will enjoy it.
