I am sooooo excited as just now in my garden I have just seen 2 Goldfinch.

We have now started to get quite a few birds in the garden. AND not so much of a problem with cats

We now have 2 doves black ring round neck
a wood pigeon
sparrows
starlings
the odd robbin

blue tit has not been round for a while.

So that has made my day....(little things eh? )

    Hi julie,
if you want to keep the goldfinch around get some niger seed, very small black stuff, and a special niger feeder which has tiny holes so seed doesn't fall out.
They will be regulars if you feed them all the time.
    Fantastic little birds.

I've got a Robbin I hand feed, it's so freindly it follows me around like a puppy, it even hassles me to feed it if there's no food out!.

Reminds me of my Mum and Dad, they used to love spotting all the different birds in their garden.

Good memories, thanks for reminding me.

daylilly thank you, I have made a note of the food and will look out for some perhaps tomorrow.

Mellman, thats really lovely having your very own robin. They are too timid round here.

Karen I am glad it brought back happy memories.

Julie how lovely, I am going to get a book on bird spotting, I never know what we have in our garden, apart from the commons ones that is   I would love to be able to name them all.
    Love

Oh barbara I only know cause I cheated and googled it.

I am like you and only know the most common birds. I will have to invest in a book too.
