Hiya,

I'm in so much pain just now with my head. I've got cervical spondylosis and it's getting worse. I'm getting terrible head pain which starts at the base of neck and travels up my head. I have a lump at the base of my neck that never goes away. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm sitting here with my heat pillow on my neck/head. Any advice welcome,
Thanks,
Magenta x

PS I've been referred to a head and neck specialist plus an orthopaedic surgeon

    Hi magenta,
Sounds typical for cervical spondy according to my physio.
Have you got a memory foam pillow? My neck improved a lot with one- it's hard and takes some getting used to but works, used on it's own, doesn't work if you put another pillow under it as your necks in the wrong position. If you haven't got one get a more expensive one, cheap ones aren't the same.
I don't have the lump though. I use heat bags as well.
Hope it eases for you soon, the headaches are horrible aren't they.
    take care

    Hiya,

    Thanks for your replies.

I keep saying I'm going to get a memory pillow but I never get around to doing it. The headaches are lousy

I'm going to go to bed now,

    Thanks,

    Magenta,

I know exactly how you are feeling i also have cervical spondylosis the head aches were the worst thing i used to put an ice pack on the top of my head to relieve the pain.
I am on Gabapentin now and the headaches are no where near as bad they are still there but more of a background headache all the time which i put up with as having had the bad ones these are manageable.

I find now when i do get the bad heads i use a neck collar which seems to help relieve the pressure.

I do hope they can do something to help you, hang on in there as there are things that can be done to help

l have a memory foam pillow too -it's a right funny shape and haven't been without it now for about two years since the first yukky neck type flare.....l use it on it's onw too as suggested by Daylily.

Wont be long before someone takes a look.

    Love

My problems are different from yours, magenta, but I did used to wake up with awful migrainey headaches until I got the shaped memory foam pillow. That was about 5 years ago and I’ve had no trouble since. It mightn’t work for you but I’d certainly give it a try.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Sorry that you are having the horrible headaches. I have neck problems and I too get these headaches. They are not nice and make me feel sick too.
If I don't go to bed I end up sitting on sofa with neck pressed into the back of it for support.

I hope the specialist peeps can help and that your app doesn't take long to come through.

    Take care

    Hiya,
Thanks for all the info. I'll look into the pillow thing. Thanks Peter for the physio stuff. I've done similar for my neck muscles when they thought it was my jaw causing it-I'll give them a go again.

You've all been so helpful

    Thanks xx

    Hi Eileen,

Right there with you flower and it sounds horribly familiar.

The good thing is your going to be seen by the specialists and well see what they say and how they can help cus there may be a lot they can do.

Physio is a good idea and I really believe that muscles being strong can help keep it all going.

hang in there and let us know when your being seen. ((((( ))))) and a hope you had a decent week end? Cris xx

    Hi Cris,
I did have a good weekend, wet (very!) but good. I'm going to see Head and neck guy on the 13th July so not long-actually got one for 29th June but I'm on holiday so cancelled.
    How's you these days?
    Eileen xx
