Every time one of our leaders gets up and starts spouts on about Democracy and how peace needs to be restored in some war or other just remember this.
The UK is the second biggest arms dealer in the world, the US is first.
And secondly were the 4th highest purchaser or weapons in the world.
So there’s a bloody good chance that a lot of the wars now raging in the world are attributable to this very country, so why sell all this stuff in the first place, why can’t or don’t we shut the arms trade down and go into making things that makes peoples lives a lot better instead of very unpleasant, or in a lot of cases a lot lot shorter.
Why can't we do something useful instead of exporting so much death arond the globe, BAE Systems and their ilk are way to powerful we should shut them down for the sake of humanity seeming or PM keeps going on about how he's all for saving lives.

Blackadder III - Dual and Duality :D In Blackadder Goes Forth:

Captain Blackadder: You see, Baldrick, in order to prevent war in Europe, two superblocs developed: us, the French and the Russians on one side, and the Germans and Austro-Hungary on the other. The idea was to have two vast opposing armies, each acting as the other's deterrent. That way there could never be a war.

Private Baldrick: But, this is a sort of a war, isn't it, sir?

Captain Blackadder: Yes, that's right. You see, there was a tiny flaw in the plan.

Private Baldrick: What was that, sir?

    Captain Blackadder: It was boll****

So many quotes from that episode ring true about war. Is it a necessary evil? Or there because we can't resolve anything without resorting to violence?

Was it agression that made us climb mountains or find new countries or was it curiosity? Agree with the competition/ agression theory though, to some extent, although not all competitions end in violence? The Olympics, for instance? The World Cup? All competititive but bring together nations?

And if we recognise that we have this "faulty" gene, then why isn't anyone trying to fix it - we've tried to "fix" most things in the past - homosexuality, differing religions, etc.
