Hi folks, just a quick hi, just to let you know that I haven't dissapeared altogether..
My hands have been hurting a fair bit lately and I only get frustrated when I do log in cos in case you haven't noticed, I have a lot to say
Plus I have been busy doing bits round the house, got a fair few diy bits to do, have been trying to get some done, bit of painting etc, hence the bad hands, plus the knees have been really bad so that means two crutches if I wanna go anywhere, again, hurts the hands..
Anyway folks, I hope we are all well, I will do mi best to get back to how I was.. Lol
Maybe once the knees are done and I don't need the crutches it might improve, here's hoping, lol.........
I have booked a hotel up by Richmond, we are going to visit a friend up there, he is having a party tomorrow afternoon so that will make a nice change..
Might spend Sunday just wondering round North Yorkshire, beautiful part of the country
Catch you all soon...

Hi Tony,
We've missed you, but know you're suffering  have a lovely time tomorrow, rest up and enjoy the weekend. Thinking positive thoughts for your op's and once youve recovered you'll feel so much better

Hi Tony
it HAS to help when yo are not using crutches - even if only a bit - hands do not like being used as walking aids
Now Tony - you HAVE been conspicuous by your abscence, but we know you love us
Have a good weekend in Richmond and rest from the physical stuff eh?!
Love and hugs
Toni xx0 -
Have a good time Tony - for phack's sake try to rest, yes? It does help. I will be thinking of you, you are indeed that sweet lass of Richmond Hill. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I.m jealous Tony . I love that part of Yorkshire...
Re crutches: have you tried putting some grey foam pipe lagging ( 60p per length from b and q) round the handlebars on the curches? It really helped me. You just cut a suitable length, slit it open and put it round the hsndle, fasten it on with those plastic tags or even an elastic band,,
Holding a paintbrush is a definite 'no no' .. Have you tried those new/shaped paint pads? I keep looking at them and wondering if they would be ok for arthritis hands!!

Back home, absolutely shattered but had a fantastic time. Had a great sunday lunch up there in the cricket club..
not a bad drive home, a1 wasn't too busy just all this silly fifty miles per hour average speed camera nonsense...
My body isn't my friend at all now.......... Oh well, we pay for our enjoyment eh?
I'm gonna have a nice rest now, catch you all later on.. Thanks for the messages..
Marion, I've tried those paint pads, they're actually pretty good, well for my hands anyway, and I think they do quite a good job too.

Nice to hear you had a nice time..
Make sure you put your feet up and rest now, you'll be no good for anyone if you don't look after yourself..xxTracyxx0 -
Tony, I'm glad you've had a good weekend. Sorry I wasn't on before but been off myself. Please try to rest those hands. because we demand so much of them in just routine stuff they are very unforgiving when we really push them hard.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Try to rest up Tony, we know that you'll be back when you are able to. I only have it mildly and it seems to flare up when it's very damp & cold which is bad enough but can only imagine how difficult it is for you with it constantly.
Take care

Hi Tony

Hi, just noticed your post about your hands hurting when you're using your crutches.
I 've got RA in my wrists/hands & had to go on crutches whilst waiting for THRs, they really did hurt my hands.
However, I was advised by a physio friend to ask for FISHER (FISCHER?) crutches as the handles are shaped to spread the weight which relieves the pressure on the hands. They had to be ordered & took a week to come but the difference was amazing.
I was on them from Sept 2010 - June 2011 & no way could I have managed with the normal handles.
I'd contact the dept who supplied your crutches & ask them to get you a pair of the Fishers.0 -
