I’ve just realised that I’m not the knee expert I thought I was.
Three weeks ago I was convinced my ancient TKR was on its death bed. 10 days ago it felt all the time like it was trapped deep in a poacher’s snare. When I attempted the slightest bendy movement that’s when it got really painful. I did all I could think of – elevation, support, exercise and more exercise – still dreading this weekend’s visit to my son & his steep, twisty stairs with the banister I can't hold.
But the knee is slowly improving. And, until I asked so much of it, I’d no idea how strong my other knee, a 2 yr old revision, was. It tackled the stairs with ease, bending as far as I needed and then with plenty of oompht left over to support all my weight in that position while I gently lowered or raised the other one.
I’m a happy bunny. I accept I know nothing about knees except that my newest one is amazing and its older sibling appears to be convalescing.
And I had a fantastic weekend.

Hi Sticky
So very releived to hear that you managed the weekend so well and that your knee(s) seem to be better than you had thought.
I wonder if you did yourself some sort of injury?

Hi Sticky, I'm glad to read your knee news. I have found that with my knees it is inflammation that causes my pain, and this is up-and-down due to various meds, weather, how much rest or exercise my knee has had.
Good luck with those stairs!

I wish I knew, Forgmorton, and if anyone can enlighten me I’d be grateful.
I had done a good (1/2 mile) walk with no after effects at all. Went to bed fine & woke up with a knee that was bad then & just got worse.
I do have form on this as I once managed to break my hip in bed. I think I’ll leave that one in the air as the reality is far less interesting than the potential speculation.
Thanks all you lovely people. It was great to do it: even better to share it.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Valval, that sounds a far more interesting visit than the one I actually had!If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Well you old fraud .................................. just kidding. The trouble is Sticky there's a fine line between pushing oneself and overdoing it.
I can remember forcing myself to walk around a lake and halfway round having to chew on Paracetamol    the pain in my lower limbs was so bad. The day after I was limping around in dreadful pain but the following week I was painfree and tremendous.
I ask myself was it the walk round the lake or would I have had a painfree week anyway ......................the only way to know is to walk round the lake again but I don't want to push myself through those horrendous pain barriers again.
Am I cowardly or what (statement, not question) !!!!!!Love, Legs x

Definitely you're an 'or what', Legs.
I just wish this thing'd be a little more rational. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
