Hello, I am 46 years old and i have been diagnosed with severe osteo athiritis in both my knees and have been informed that i need knee replacements.
My consultant has informed myself that i can get help with certain things but, he did not say what nor where to get the advice from.
If anyone has got an answer for me, please let me know as being a machine engineer by trade and working in low temperatures, i have been informed that i would not be able to continue with this type of work.
Please help.
Regards
Cenydd

Hi Cenydd
Thanks for your posting.
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you are experiencing with your knees at present.
It may be worth seeing your doctor to get a referral to a physiotherapist (unless you have already) to get some treatment and advice regarding exercise, things to avoid doing and coping at work. For information about your rights at work and possible help with adaptions see our booklet Working with arthritis at http://www.arthritiscare.org.uk/PublicationsandResources/Listedbytype/Booklets. At the same address you can find useful information in our booklet Coping with pain. For information on Osteoarthritis in the Knee see http://www.arthritisresearchuk.org/arthritis_information/arthritis_types__symptoms/osteoarthritis_of_the_knee.aspx.
I hope this helps.
Please ring our helplines on 0808 800 4050 if you would like to have a chat, or need more information.
Regards
Nick
