Tomorrow is "the day" for Sophie

Tomorrow is a big day for me. I have a rheumy appointment in the morning and then straight off to another hospital to be admitted. My operation will be early evening. I'm having the back of my ankle cut open to remove a lump of bone that has been irritated by inflammation. My consultant will also be using arthroscopy to remove inflammation from another part of my ankle. I'll also have a steroid injection in the other ankle joint at the same time.

I must admit, I'm getting quite nervous! I'm especially dreading 2 weeks complete rest at home in a plaster cast. However, the pain has got significantly worse and I know I need this. It won't magic my pain away but it should help improve things.

If anyone fancies hopping in my pocket or hospital bag, I shall make space for you right next to my new pyjamas. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hey, Starburst, it certainly is a big day for you.

I hope everything goes really well & you end up with considerably less pain. Do take the convalescence seriously & don't attempt too much too soon. I expect rest, elevation & exercise will be the orders.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hi Starburst

Just wanted to wish you all the very best for tomorrow at your rheumy appointment and later on in the day when you are to be admitted to hossy for your operation. At least you will be kept busy tomorrow.

Do let us know how you go on, as soon as you are able.

Two weeks in plaster and complete rest will soon pass. Let others look after you for that time.

    Look after yourself,

    Luv
    Elna x

Thank you, lovely people. I didn't sleep very well last night and my stomach is churning, even though I don't actually feel nervous. I think my body is nervous for me. Leaving for rheumy appt soonish and surgery will be this evening at about 6.30 pm.

Have a lovely day everyone. Fingers crossed for no rain! xx

    Hi Sophie,
Sorry I missed your appointment this morning with your Rheumy, I hope it went well for you. Not long now to your op and I know you will be nervous but it will be worth it in the long term if it means being pain free. I hope you have some books to read and will be able to get onto the forum now and then while you are convalescing.
    Thinking of you,
