Thanks for all my well wishes yesterday, it worked!

I have my wrist splints, and can't believe the difference they make. I have been ordered a new walking aid, a 3 wheeled walker. My hubby says he will not be with me when I am using it. I am not sure I want, to be with me when I am using it. However, it was amazing to walk with and I can see it will aid my mobility greatly. So, I just have to wait for that now.

I have been given exercises to improve my weakness in my leg and foot. Which I was pleasantly suprised to find are not too difficult or too many. I was slightly concerned that repetitive motion makes the weakness worse, but she assured me it will strengthen the muscles. She seems to know her stuff, so I am going to give it a go.

I am amazed at how efficient she is. It is great. She says she hopes I am not disappointed by my 3rd appt! It was i nteresting when she explained exactly where the weakness is as I was never sure.

All in all a great appt, I am very pleased.

Another good news story, Suzygirl. Fantastic! It seems to have gone well on so many fronts. I am very, very pleased.

As for the 3 wheeled walker & your husband - my old Mum acquired one of these when in her residential home. A mild & gentle soul for most of her life, she had a tendency to use it as a weapon to skittle anyone in her path. Now I'm not saying that you should do the same but......

    Hi Suzy

you'll have to pimp that walker!!!

that's what some people used to when they had one....make it more individual and YOU!!

I am glad it helps so much and that the exercises are ok to do. Makes a pleasant change.

And the splints are looking good too

    Love

Isn't it refreshing when something we are not sure about turns out to be a good thing after all? I hope the exercises make a big difference, I think that if your muscles are stronger they support joints better so that may help to ease some discomfort. As for the walker, just tell the OH that actually you don't need him with you as you stroll about tottie hunting. DD

    Hi Suzy
glad your physio went well the walker will really help I have had a 4 wheeled one for 2 and 1/2 years now when I first had it my OH actually told a friend he was embarrassed to be out with me when I used it but when he saw what a difference it made to me he got over it dosen't bother him anymore. I'm sure your OH will be the same. My granchildren nicknamed me turbogran (see forum name) when I started using mine.
    take care

Thanks for your replies. I am still tired and my neck is really bad at the moment. It will be so nice to be more mobile, might be able to get out a bit more. Amazing how your view changes on these things.

My rule of thumb on aids etc has always been that, if it merely makes life easier, I'm not too interested as that can mean not using muscles/joints & keeping them up to scratch: if, however, it makes possible things that would otherwise be impossible, or very nearly so, I go for it 100%. Good luck, Suzygirl and hope your neck's soon as good as possible.
