Sorry....my other thread was getting a bit mixed up with other appointmens including todays.
Just thought i would bring you up to date on this sprained pelvis ??
7.15am the phone rang....Peter answered it and i said if that is the hosp cancelling my appointment today after all I've been through I'll scream but it wasnt...It was the GP.
She apologised for ringing so early but said she had the results of my x ray and thought she would ring me and tell me. She said it wasnt conclusive but looked as if I had a fractured pelvis and that would explain the pain moving around. She then said....she was doing surgery and hadnt had time to get her head around it....she also wanted to speak to her colleagues and see what they thought......she would ring me this afternoon or if not it would be Friday...meantime she left a prescription for Peter to pick up....
It was oromorph {sp} and laxatives   after the past 2 days no thanks
Anyway took my first dose of oromorph.....she wants me to keep a note of how much I take and when.
I think thats about it.....thanks everyone for being around when I need you
Love
Hileena

    Morning Hileena

That was good of your doctor to ring you personally and keep you informed of what her plans are. I hope she rings you soon and tells you what is about to happen. In the meantime I hope the med she prescribed keeps your pain at bay.

    Take care

Yer what? FRACTURED? Strewth. I don't usually react much to what docs tell me but if this were me I would be rooted to the spot, not daring to move. Gordon Bennett hileena, what a turn up for the books, yes? I am so sorry but at least it's an explanation of what has been going on - I'm off to make a cuppa, I need one after reading that! DD

    Hi Everyone
Well it was a shock to me as well but I do hope in a way that it does turn out to be a fracture....at least thats something a bit more positive than wear and tear or your sacro illiac joint taking too much and eventually giving in. I dont know what they do....obviously cant put it in plaster :lol:
The annoying thing is that I cant even use the crutches now....about 3 or 4 steps and thats the lot......and standing??? agony on my left hip/buttoock /somewhere  So cant even stand to make a cup of coffee.
I've just had a call from the nurse....shes coming round "doctor wants a urine sample and a blood sample" so she will be here any minute. Its good service at this docs. Glad I changed.

Oh Hileena, what a shock for you. No wonder you have been in so much agony I don’t know how you have managed. I hope the nurse has been able to give you some reassurance and a possible time scale as to what happens next.

    Very gentle hugs,

    Hi,
No the nurse didnt know anything about it....The doc just asked her to get a urine sample and blood samples. The usual blood...kidney liver etc etc etc except ESR {is it????} thats the one I read posts about usually from people with RA not OA....she wants to know if there is any inflamation...some of you more knowledgable people are going to have to explain it and tell me whats good, bad or indifferent
I'll probably hear from the doc tomorrow...she seems very good at getting it touch quickly

    Hi Sticky
Thanks.....I hope so as well....I'll get there and in a way i hope it is a fracture....I think that is a more positive outlook. At least that will heal eventually.....unlike arthur/trapped nerves/wear and tear all sorts of things like that. Does that sound silly?? Probably does  but its the way I feel

    Morning everyone
Well I got a telephone call from the GP at 8am. She has got the majority of my blood tests {from yesterday  } back and is more certain than ever it is fractured. The last couple of blood tests will be through by Wed so she has made an appointment for me on Wed Morning.....she said the next thing is to find out if my bones are brittle. I said I had a dexa scan about 3 yrs ago and was diagnosed with osteopenia {sp?} she said well that might be osteoporosis now....we'll talk about that on Wed....looks like that will be my next appt. ye gods will the appointments never stop.
Once again she said we'll discuss it on Wed{ but I dont think there is anything she can do} but I just want to make you as comfortable as I can in the meantime.
    Love

Wishing you all the best for Wednesday, Hileena. At least you're finally getting some answers but what answers! You look after yourself. I hope they can finally sort something out for you.

    Hi Julie, Iris and Sticky,
At least things are happening now...thank goodness for this new doc...glad I got changed over when I did.
Its very sore...lot of pain and I really need to rest but at least its positive....The way I'm looking at it is if itts a fractured pelvis its acute not chronic and will eventually clear.
    Thanks for all your support {to everyone}

    Love

Hi Hileena, not being on here so often, I've missed out a chunk of your story. How long/why now have they suddenly decided to x ray your pelvis and hence find a fracture?! Is this what the back pain has been all along? Where is the fracture? Gee woman, no wonder you need oromorph. Why is the GP dealing with this (although they sound very competent) why havent you had an appointment at the trauma clinic?

    Speedy
I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Speedy
Its good to hear from you....how's the THR and how's Sam?
Update LOL....about 7 weeks ago I had a pain across my back but very low...lower that my lower back if you know what i mean.....Pain in the bum to be exact
At the beginning it changed from one buttock to the other..I had a useless doc and was in the middle of changing surgeries.
I have OA as you know and also scoliosis....but it was neither of those...you would know if a pain was different wouldnt you? I have had arthur long enough to be able to define  Anyway after about 3 weeks and it getting sorer I went to this GP and he just looked at where I pointed to and said thats your sacro illiac...you've sprained it and promptly wrote out a prescription for tamadol.
Remember those things  You were on them as well after your THR....anyway I didnt take them
Then a letter came though to say I had been accepted at the other surgery....I went to see her after another week or so...partially to introduce myself and partially because i was getting worse. She said I want you to go to the hospital and have that x rayed.
7.15am one morning {last Wed} she rang me and said I've got your x ray back ....its not conclusive but i'm pretty certain you've fractured your pelvis....I'm doing surgery and I need to get my head round it and want to speak to my colleagues so I'll ring you back in a couple of days...meantime I'll leave a prescription for your husband to pick up.......Oromorph.
So she must have been pretty sure.....next morning{Thur} got a call from the nurse...she said ...doctor wants me to take some blood tests and a urine test can i come rount before noon.
Then Fri.....8am another call from the doc saying it was a fracture...she had most of the blood tests back {after one day!!!!!!! } She then said there were still a couple of blood tests to come through and they would be through by Wed and she made an appointment for me for next Wed.....all this has happened in less than a week
Yesterday and todayI'm very sore.....taking the minimum dose of oromorph that she prescribed......Peter is nagging me to up the dose but I'm scared to. I can only walk about 5 steps with crutches and thats it.
So....no thats not where the original back pain was coming from...thats the kyphoscoliosis. The fracture is in the middle. and I havent a clue why I've not been sent aywhere else.....I'll see her on Wed and we'll sort a lot of things out then.....she did say itwould be a long job but thats all.
Speedy...have you fallen asleep yet :lol::lol:
You've only got yourself to blame for not coming on more often and keeping up to date :lol::lol:
Seriously ...I hope you are keeping well and both hips are fine.
    Love
    Hileena
