Hi, my name is mel and I am 24. I live just outside of chester I was diagnosed with OA when I was 23 after 7 years of complaining to the doctors that my hips are really painful and always clicking!

Now I have pain killers to help and take tramadol, paracetamol and diclofenic. Although after taking these I am still In pain so they aren't a massive help.

I have 2 children aged 2 and 4 which on bad days I feel absolutely awful that I can't do much with them. I am dreading things getting worse. I find that after Doing my physio exercises that I am meant to do twice a day. I am in agony the next day or so which means I am unable to do my physio as much as I am supposed to.

hi if you can keep muscles strong it helps protect joints. but phone your physio and explain how long recovery is taking it should only be a couple of hours if longer something is wrong, from what i have been told by my physio in past. but do try to do what you can i know it easyer said than done but very important see the exercises on here they very good and do help swimming is great as well. good luck val

    Hi mel

and welcome to the forum from me too

I am sorry your hips are giving you so much gyp. Difficult with littleys isn't it?

Good news is once they are both inschool you will maybe be able to a have a proper rest in the day??

To be honest i would be telling your physio about your pain after exercise - they nmay need changing or cutting back?

    Love

    Toni xx

Thanks for the lovely welcOme :). I have cut back my exercises and having more regular visits now fortnightly. It will be easier when both the boys are at school. My oldest starts full time In sept and the youngest will have Pre school 4/5 mornings so will be easier for us all.
Hope you all are as well as can be? X

Welcome from me too. On the face of it you and me have nothing in common - I am a childless hag of 52 with PA and some OA too, but I can empathise with the pain and the struggles you are facing. The forum is a wonderful place to vent when life is tough, it's a good resource for information and knowledge, and it is supportive. I wish you well. DD

    Hi Mel
And welcome from me, hips are my thing...well and backs....I know how painful they can be, it sounds like you need to see your physio, you have to keep exercising but it is important to do the right ones and not overdo things.
I do wish you well with everything, and I do hope you stay with us.
    Love

Thanks again for your words of support guys. Wish I found this site when I was first diagnosed as I want sure how to take it or how to
    Feel.
I have my emotional ups and downs hut they go hand in hand with my physical good and bad days ;).
Unfortunately today is a bad day :( the first time I have actually
Cried because of pain in my hips. (I broke down in my mums work of all places!)
Things are on the move though. I didn't realise I could have a blue badge without dla before coming on here. I was a bit panicked early this week as my application for dla was rejected and I was Only applying for the sake of a badge not money. But after reading this this morning- I know have a pending application for the blue badge :).
I just hope all this won't affect my chances of getting into
Uni. ( I want to train as a midwife. And it is a very difficult course to get on)

    Morning Mel,
I dont think there is any one way to feel...we all go through a range of feelings and emotions at different times.....I almost burst into tears in the gP's surgery the other day....she could see how close to crying i was.
As for the blue badge.....you apply for it as soon as possible.
One thing that has popped into my head is.......do you get any benefits? Sorry not being nosey but I dont get DLA or anything else and i was filling in an application form.....for the gym...to get what is called a TAL card in this area and you get money off your visits to the gym or classes.
It said do you get benefits and I put NO in and the girl at reception who knows me said You have a blue badge dont you? Thats a benefit.....put that down so I get a little bit more of the classes......she said any form I'm filling in if it says benefits.....say yes.
I somehow thought of benefits as being monetary
    Love

Hi mel, welcome to the forum. . I'm 31 with inflammatory arthritis, I have 2 children so I know how hard it is at times. It can be a roller coaster of emotions and you do find you learn how to handle/cope with various things as time goes on. The good thing is we can understand how you are feeling and are here for eachother. . . Glad you feel bit better today. . Look forward to seeing you around. . X
