Bloomin' knee

So, had the results of my MRI which showed a torn cartilidge from yonks back has been causing a decade of pain – and caused early onset arthritis because no one picked up on it before, despite me constantly going ‘ouch my knee hurts’ on pretty much every trip to the doc. Grrr.
Waiting on referral to orthopedics fingers crossed can get seen soon. My rhuemy wasn’t sure how much they wld need to do on the knee, as it might also be a slack middle ligament causing the kneecp to slide around.
:(

I’ve never had surgery before and it seems like it could be quite a big ‘un even if its only arthroscopy if they have to fix the cartilidge AND do ligament repair.

I’m only young! I shouldn’t need to have my knees repaired for decades and decades!

Bah.

Sorry. Slight rant over. At least the hospital have been super efficient with me so far which is very good.

Hope you are all as well as can be today
x

Thanks Val, I think it's partly becase I'm so young (24) that they've not really listened when I've been like 'I cant walk far with this, I cannot manage stairs, it disturbs my sleep' etc they think I've been overplaying it. At least the mri showed i'm not overplaying it AND I'm not going crazy! (Which had crossed my mind...)

    Rant away.. Lol

It's awful being young and needing surgery. Mine started at thirteen.... Had a few arthroscopies over the years.. Next one is on monday, double one    in the past they've always helped so I'm hoping these ones do too. I know from last time i have a rip in the left cartaledge, dunno what they'll do with that...
    We will see..
best of luck though. Knee pain is bloody horrid..

Oh, good luck for Monday! I'll be there on pocket duty for you :)

How long does it normally take to recover from an arthroscopy? Do you need to spend time off work/on crutches? I haven't been given much info as yet :(

Fingers crossed for you on MOnday - double one, ouch!
