Ouch but worth it!

Hi all,

I have now discharged myself from my orthopaedic consultant as I have had enough of being prodded and poked and getting no where!

I managed to get out in my kayak on Tuesday and I am now paying the price with pain levels that are through the roof but it is so worth it, I am going to take back control of my life and stop being a patient.

I hope you are all as pain free as possible

Zec

    Hi Zec
I fully understand where you are coming from, I was thinking the same the other day, I am now just a patient.....between appointments I am still in pain, but I cant discharge myself, I will have to have my Hips replaced...then I will hopefully be doing the same.
    Good luck to you
    Love
    Barbara

You be careful out there zech - there be dragons you know! I wish you well with the kayaking, pace yourself and go as easy as you can on those pesky joints. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Hi Zech, I totally understand you! I get sick of going to see my consultant and him making me lie on the bed only to be prodded and poked only to be told to come back in 3mnths,6mnths or a year and leaving his room with no clear answers and worse pain then when I entered his room with! I do sometimes say to myself whats the use in going back, but if there is a chance something can be done for you I would bite my tounge and take it. Other people might be lucky, but I have been told my knees and hips are beyond repair and all that can be offered to me is pain management.

Yea I'm the same, I am still under pain management and they do far more for me.
The consultant said I just have to live with the pain as there is nothing more they can do and so I can't see the point in my 3 monthly appointments anymore.

I wouldnt recommend everyone discharge themselves, I am fortunate to have a very good GP surgery and I am happy to see them if the need arises!
