Nine months after my THR the hip is fantastic BUT lately I have been having pains in my calf and thigh muscles first thing in the morning I find that 1 soluable Ibroprufen solves the problem for the whole day Anyone else out there had this problem?I may have just joined the ministry of funny walks :?: :?: :?:

Welcome to the Ministry of Funny Walks, Tonesp. Can you squeeze in? It's a bit crowded in here.
It's good that the ibuprofen does its job and it might simply be that you're sleeping badly on the affected leg, especially if you feel nothing during the day when you're actually walking on it. Or (in a similar vein) maybe a new mattress would help. I wouldn't let it go on for too long though without getting the doc to check it out. It might be that one of your legs is now very slightly longer than the other and an insole in one shoe would help.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Tones
I havnt had mine done yet, but I hope you get some answers, like SW says, sometimes your new hip can shorten your leg a little.
When you think of it, there will still be healing going on in the muscles and tendons.
Sorry Im not much help am I
You take careLove

Hi Tony, how do you sleep? The reason I ask, is that I used to sleep with my toes pointed on one leg and that meant the muscles weren't relaxed, putting a cushion to stop this happening helped in the short term and broke the habit.
I would get it checked out, in case it is a circulatory problem, in the meantime, move your foot and anke around whilst in bed.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Gosh Tone
l have no tips, but judging by the fact it goes off during the day.....l tend to think maybe the others are right about the way you are sleeping :???:

It might be due to the fact that I share a bed with a wife and two small dogs I've never been a good sleeper and it is possible tht this is the cause0
