My back is killing me. Sciatica still as painful and my leg actually gave out with a huge stabbing pain yesterday, had Harry in my arms but luckily I was near the sofa so managed to plop onto the chair rather than hit the floor. Is that normal?
I've got pain from my shoulder blades down but it seems muscular rather than the sciatic pain I've been having. Anyone got any suggestions other than to lie down and cry?

Hi, it sounds as if you've had quite a rough time and a big fright. I've had my leg give way on me after sitting too long and fallen or nearly fallen a few times, luckily I've always been at home.

You've been in pain for quite a while, I think its time to go to see your GP, or whoever looks after your medication and see if they can give you something better. It must be difficult with a small child, as some drugs make you sleepy, especially at first while you are getting used to them. Maybe physio could help? Or a Pain clinic referral. Good luck I hope you soon feel better.

    Hi Jen
I have sciatic pain and I know how horrendous it can be, at the min the only thing that is helping is gabapentin.....it has made it really bearable
I do hope it eases for you very soon.

    Hi Jen,

I know what you mean about feeling like 103 or more.

I also suffer greatly with pain on shoulders and back. I kept on mentioning it to my rheumi and eventually said that it was Fibromyalgia. Basically affects your pressure points (muscular). Unfortunately there is no specific blood test for it. They go by your symptoms. I was once given and injection in the shoulder which helped tremendously for a while.

I agree you need to see your GP and also perhaps mention it when you next see your rheumi.

Hope you're not in too much pain.

Hi, having a battle with pain from sciatica myself so understand how much pain you are in.

Saw my GP who prescribed Tramadol Hydrochloride capsules (50mg) 1 to 2 tablets, 4 times a day. I found this has helped take the pain away most of the time (have needed to take 2 paracetamol on top of Tramadol on occasion when pain was too much)

(GP prescribed codeine first but this didn't help me so rang my rheumy team who suggested I saw my GP again and asked for a prescription of Tramadol).

Seeing a physiotherapist at the hospital next week dont know if this will help me but will keep you posted.

My 'sciatic' leg has also given way on me - guess this must be normal.

No suggestions, Jenzie06, but I do hope things are a little easier for you today.

    Jenzie06,

I have recently seen physiotherapist because of the sciatica in my right leg and she suggested acupuncture for it which I am having done on Monday at my local hospital courtesy of NHS.

Will let you know how it goes and if it helps at all.

    Hi,

I used to get sciatica with my AS but Enbrel controlling it now, my legs used to give way all the time. Once fell down flight of stairs in adjoining centre in Egypt amongst others.

The physio will give you some exercises to do they do help, also I found heat helps. You really need to go and get some medical advice cos you can't go on like this.

    Hope things get better, xx

    Hi there

I'm just getting over a nasty bout of sciatica. My doctor prescribed Tramadol along with Ibuperfen and Diazepam 3 times a day, at the moment it has eased things, leaving me sleepy as hell but more comfortable.

I think you need to go to your doctors.
