Hi

If anyone knows me on here they will know I got bluntly rebuffed by my local hospital orthapedic for TKR who refused on the grounds of age (42) and weight (yes i am working on this and have lost a stone so far)....He wanted to take my kneecap out, no questions asked, i didnt like the sound of this and decided not to go ahead with his not so kind offer...That was last year....
I decided to complain about this consulatant as he was obstrcutive and wouldnt answer any of my questions about the above and simply thought of me as unoperable and of risk of getting a bad infection! He stated i wasnt a normal person of my age either whatever that may be? I saw ICAS and we wrote a letter, that was in mid march, got letter back saying they would take month to reply in April....Despite numerous assurances that this letter is in post to me and ICAS man, nothing has come...I reached boiling point this week and positioned myself in the reception area, and waited to talk to customer care person...She spoke to me and i calmed down but i said "no more assurances cos they are false and quite insulting".....I left saying i wanted the letter within a few weeks and that was being generous....
Now you would have thought that me turning up there and i was annoyed for most of conversation, that if i had been doing that job, i would have made sure that the lletter went out end of week...Apparently not....Im now thinking if nothing else works im camping out at reception again and not leaving till i get the letter...A friend also said i should involve my local mp who is very good but what do you guys think? I really think to put things politely they are extracting the urine and my complaint ois not being taken seriously and they are hoping I will drop it....Apparently the limit now for replies is 6 months but i dont beleive this woman one bit...

Advice mucho gracias...

I'm sorry that you're having to go through this. I would write to your M.P. I did for a different reason and he was more than helpful. Has your hospital got a P.A.L.S. service attached? It should do, and they are extremely helpful too. Look them up on-line and it should help to get things moving for you. Good luck

Oh a p.s. I contacted my M.P. via e-mail. Be sure to include your full home address and postcode and telephone number. They're not allowed to respond unless they know you're in their constituency.

    Hi Sue

Its just so infuriating and its a ploy to put me off but all its doing is making me more determined!! The consultant is apparently the top dog and maybe i shouldnt complain but if i get treated like a piece of poo i will...
My hospital only has customer care hence why i sought out ICAS but in all honestly theyre not brilliant...
My MP Tim Farron is good, maybe i should email him i dont want to garble on too much!!
    Thanks

    Hi Elaine
I just want to wish you good luck , I know how much this means to you.
And if you ask me the NHS gets away with to much.

    Hi Barbara

You know i dont know how they can do their job and be okay with that? I mean if i got repeated complaints and someone was wanting a reply id go out of my way to get that issue resolved not exacerbate the matter! It seems they can do anything, say anything and if they think im gonna drop it or play nice they are in for one helloffa shock...I will camp out there, drink, food and wait for the damned letter!!

    GRR!!
