I think I’m really lucky – we have a local pharmacy two doors down from the GP surgery, and he’s open until 8pm every night so if you’ve had the last appointment at the surgery you can still have time to get there to pick up a prescription. I often see him still open at 9pm too. He knows everyone, and as soon as I walk in he knows exactly what I am there to collect. The other day, I was prescribed a new painkiller, and he said he wanted to check something. Pulling out a HUGE book, he went through it and it turned out that this painkiller can affect thyroid blood results, giving a different number for TSH levels (which is vitally important for me to know) so he made sure to tell me not to take it three days before a blood test to make sure. Something my doc didn’t know or tell me! And I wasn’t even picking up my thyroid medication at the time – he just knew what I was on, and always knows what I’m taking without looking at any computers etc, and he knows what I’m allergic to as well – once my doc gave me something and he said ‘nope, can’t give you this, you’ll be very sick’, called the doc and immediately arranged an alternative prescription.

He even knows when my partner goes in who he is and that he is often picking up my prescription for me. I can honestly say I have never had such good service from a pharmacist, ever.

Plus, he always has a smile and will always ask how your day is – and genuinely listen to the answer. He is so friendly, works super hard, and is such a useful reliable source of information.

I just wish everyone had access to such an excellent service.

I go to a local independant one as well and the chap who owns it is LOVERLY too...knows us all by name....collects our prescriptions form the docs etc...

Del that is helpful for you.

Our pharmacies are ok but do not go out of their way to be helpful. If they owe me meds they never offer to deliver the rest I have to ask.
If boots were very local I would use them after hearing your report.

I think Boots are wonderful as well......we have 2 local ones and they know me and what I take but we have one in our Metro Center {shopping Mall} I'm in there a lot on my "paddymobile":lol:
When I was given this oromorph....it was in liquid form and I suddenly realised that I was going to be out when I needed my next dose.....I didnt want to go scooting around the shopping mall with with a large bottle of morphine in my bag :lol::lol:
I popped into the Boots there and asked if they had any suggestions...I was only taking2.5mls and it was so little that if I decanted it into another bottle it was difficult to get it all out.
Thegirl came out with a small bottle with a droopper in it and also a small spoon...one end was 2.5mls and the other end 5mls....and said just put some in that bottle before you leave home then when its time put 2.5mls in the dropper and then onto the spoon.
I would have bought it but she said no.....its just a little thing but its thoughtful and has sorted me out when I'm out now.

    Love
    Hileena
